"Four in Hand"

"Double Windsor"

Do you use these two common ones, if so which one? Or do you get adventurous and use something exotic like:

"The Eldrige"

Four-in-hand or Pratt.

either Shelby or Windsor

Shelby is a smaller knot than the windsor.

haven't had to wear a tie for quite a while - only wear them for weddings and funerals these days....

Generally, half-Windsor, but I rarely wear ties.

Four in hand.

I've worn a tie more times this spring/summer than I have in all of my previous years.

I like it because it is minimalist, classy, and quick.

Yosemite Bowline, with Round turn and 2 half hitches as a close second.

Clove hitch or munter/mule if I'm in a hurry and want to be super casual.

Double Windsor, unless you're some kind of unwashed heathen.

Double/full windsor with most modern ties.

Pratt or half windsor if I need a smaller not than the above gives me.

I can't do asymmetric knots, My OCD goes into overdrive.

The knot I end up using is entirely dependent on the collar of the shirt I'm wearing.  If it's narrow like a point collar, it needs a skinny knot like the four in hand.  A button down or a spread collar looks best with something wider like the half windsor or the pratt/shelby, and even wider collars like an english spread or even a cutaway call for the granddaddy of them all, the full windsor.  Pairing the wrong knot with the wrong collar looks off.

ETA: I like the look of the pratt/shelby knot the best, and it seems to be the most versatile to me.  It's symmetrical, easy, and you can make it wider or narrower by pulling the neck loop horizontally before you cinch it up.

The "Custom Shop Knot."

It's obscure - used to be in a pamphlet from the shirt maker of the same name. A mirror image of it is somewhere in the back of Fink & Mao's book, a nice symmetrical self-releasing knot. Depending on how you work it, it is reasonably versatile with varying collar widths.

Basically this. But only maybe 18 years ago.  From the pics, it looks like the four hand one

I voted pie, because the type of knot I use is dependent on the type of shirt collar I'm wearing.

That being said, I usually wear a point collar, and, thus, I most often tie a half Windsor knot.

Half-Windsor.

That's the one my Dad taught me, and that's the one I have used all my life.

Thanks.  If anyone doesn't know what I mean, google a picture of Tucker Carlson, one of the worst offenders I can think of off the top of my head.  Tucker always looks like shit next to his co-hosts, and I think it's because of his tie knot choice.  Although he's thankfully grown out of his affectation for bow ties, he always uses a schoolboy (four in hand) knot with fairly wide collars.  As a result, you can see the loop portion of the tie in the gaps left on either side, and he appears unkempt and slovenly.

Ties are for people who pay attention when they are dressed up.
I wear a bow tie.
Doesn't get dragged through my food.
And I look super sexy in bow ties.

I only wear a tie for weddings and funerals. I only know one knot and I don't know the name of it.

Half Windsor/fourinhands - Cuz you can make it look like a full Windsor, but it takes less time to tie and comes out/loosens super easy.

Half Windsor, because I'm lazy and it's easy.
