I just can't see how any of the other candidates could have garnered the same amount of "conversion voters" like Trump has. We're talking about Reagan democrats, liberals, independents, etc.
On principle, I think Cruz hits it out of the ballpark (especially his thoughts on the ethanol mandate) but I don't see how he would have come close in terms of reviving people's interest in politics as Trump has done. Same for Rubio, Bush, Carson, etc. Do you think Diamond and Silk would have been just as enthusiastic about Cruz? Would Rubio have the backing of Carl Icahn? It's only June. We don't know what else is in store for us. My only concern right now is if Trump can get enough electoral votes. I think he'll do fine on popular vote. Washington is full of career politicians who are going to be sour as hell that this billionaire outsider just comes in and does everything differently and still manages to get ahead. I can see how the GOP would be very polarized on their support of him. |
