I hate this range but the only local out door range near me is Fudd central. RSO's are all old dudes, think they know everything. You literally have to shoot inside a concrete bunker.

I get there, sign in pay the fee and put my SBR on the bench.  Guy immediately comes over;

RSO: What length barrel on that?

Me: 9 inches.

RSO: You got federal tax stamp receipt for that?

Me: Yep, here, (hand him the paper)

RSO: Is this the original?

Me: No, I efiled it.

RSO: Yea, but is this the original?

Me: No I efiled it, I printed out tons of copies.

RSO: Okay but what I'm trying to say that this is invalid unless it has wet ink

Me: No, its valid.

RSO: okay.. Is this your signature right here?

Me: No that's the ATF examiner's signature.

RSO: Where's your signature then?

Me: Its digitally signed, I efiled it.

RSO: Marshal, come here for a second.

(He looks it over, literally checking over every line, checking the serial number, for at minimum of 5 minutes)

Marshal: All good but there's no engraving.

Me: (getting annoyed at this point)Nope its got it, its underneath the trigger guard, (THSF did the engraving)

Marshal: Not going to fly, it needs to be on the side of the magwell.

Me: No, its good.

Marshal: And 12 lines per inch

Me: Nope its approved

Marshal: No it needs to be on the mag well,

Me: Nope, atf said its okay

Marshal: No its gotta be 12 lines per inch.

Me: You got a ruler?

Marshal: Its not 12 inches per line, way to small for that. (points at the serial number on the size of my BCM lower) Needs to be that size.

Me: ATF says it needs to be 1/16th of an inch

Marshal: I’m going to check with the atf about that

Me:Go ahead,

Marshal: Alight cause they told me it needs to be on the mag well, we had an atf guy in here the other day,

Me: Its approved

Marshal: Maybe we got bad info from our guy

Me: Maybe

I get it I was being an asshole. But these guys just didn't know their shit.  I should have known better, but I thought if I showed my paper work they'd leave me alone. Not going here again.

One day I removed the bolt from my Rem700, inserted a chamber flag, and used it to spot for my buddy.  They made me reinstall the bolt so that I could leave it open... Cause safety.

I have talked to 2 people recently that told me it sucked. I go to langhorne or new holland so i dont have to deal with the public ranges.

This is how I would've handled it too.

My grandfather had a pistol brace that was left shouldered since the 1940s and still shot just fine. It's repeated shouldering/un shouldering that wears them out.

Where I shoot in Berks county you an shoot whatever you want. No ROs or really any people week days. Only a 200 member club. You do need approval from the board to shoot full auto though.
