I've looked and googled about buyings used acogs. A guy from a local facebook gun page is offering a good deal on a used acog. I called trijicon with the serial and they said that it was sold to the military but couldn't speak on it being stolen or not. They said they would replace the tritium for 188. My inclination is to run because it was sold to military. Any thoughts?

Can't speak to it not being stolen?  Can't prove that it's American-made?

Run...not walk away.

Damn. I knew a 600$ acog was too good to be true.

Listen to these people. When something is too good to be true, that's your sign.

Trijicons tracking of there shit is useless.

If a series of serials where made for the gov. But then not sold to them(gov) but released for commercial sale, it still shows in there records as a gov serial.

Search this issue to confirm to yourself what I have stated.

Is the seller a scum bag dude? Is there red'ish dust in every nook and cranny of the acog? Is it beat to shit?

If not then it's probably not from the mil.

Its painted but not beat up. Very clear glass. Never met the dude. Seems like a normal guy. No dust.

They'll fix it but they also have to notify DLA once they receive it. If it comes back stolen he's at the very least out his money. Not worth the risk.

Bought one here on the EE for a decent price, with a LaRue mount. Called Trijicon and they gave me the same spiel as the OP. Still bought it. It was as new in the case. No scratches at all. After some of the 11B's I served with, they could look at something and scratch it all to shit and put a dent in it.

Aimless has a sticky up in the optics section about EOTech refusing to return products sent to them because the serial numbers come back as .mil. I would buy elsewhere.

If it glows in the dark, probably real.

Can't fake tritium.
