MADISONVILLE, Ohio —No charges will be filed against an off-duty officer who shot and killed a man police said entered a bank in an attempted robbery and tried to fire his gun. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters, Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley and Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac held a news conference to discuss the shooting in the Madisonville Fifth Third Bank. View Quote Terry Frost, 20, was shot and killed on May 25 when he tried to rob the Fifth Third Bank, investigators said. Surveillance video released Friday shows Frost enter the bank and jump over the teller counter, where a teller was counting $90,000 in cash. Police said Frost pointed a gun and fired, but it was loaded incorrectly and misfired. Off-duty Officer Kevin Hankerson was working security at the bank and pushed the teller out of the way, firing at Frost twice and striking him once, police said. Isaac said the officer who fired the shots acted in a manner designed to save lives, pulling a bank employee out of harm’s way at a critical moment. After he was shot, Frost ran from the bank. He was found dead in nearby woods. http://www.wlwt.com/news/news-conference-on-offduty-officer-shooting-set-for-noon-surveillance-may-be-released/39756928 Happens fast. View Quote We citizens are given carry permits specifically for the purpose of self defense. When the immediate threat is over, our right to use deadly force ceases. Police are issued weapons for different reasons, which, I imagine, necessarily expand the scope of their legitimate use of deadly force. |

Awfully polite of him to run off and finish bleeding out in the woods.

Whole lot of dindu'ism at the video link. Pics of gun and primer strikes too. Is that a .38 derringer with .380 rounds in it with primer strikes? |

Took longer to read the article than for the robber to come in, get shot and run out.
Looks like the officer was shooting at the guy's back. I think if the physical characteristics of the players involved was different, that officer would be in deep shit. Mind you, it is a good shoot; either way. |

Nice to have a feel good story here amongst all the political BS.............................

He may not have had a record, but he sure entered that bank and vaulted the counter pretty confidently. I'm gonna have to guess this wasn't his first robbery rodeo.
|

Inside job. He knew that money was out. Somebody texted him from inside the bank.
