Three ladies go to a bar and grill.  The tab comes to exactly $30.00  Each lady chips in with a $10.00 bill and proceed to leave for the parking lot.  Realizing the waiter overcharged the ladies $5.00. He takes five ones and rushes out the front door of the bar to give them their change. However on the way he to the ladies he runs into a quandary of how to divide 5- $1 bills between 3 women. His solution, give them each a $1 bill and pocket the last two and not tell anyone that he did.

So now, each lady had paid $9.00 for the meal and he kept $2.00.
9 x 3 is $27.00 plus the two the waiter kept = .$29.00 dollars.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

Each lady still paid $10. The restaurant kept 25, the waiter kept 2, each lady got 1 back (total of 3.) 25+2+3=30

If over charged by $5 then their total bill was only $25 thus each should have paid $8.33 for the meal. He should owe each $1.66 back and if just gives $1 back then he keeps the other two.

OLD old old riddle

3 ladies @ $10 each is a total of $30

Waiter takes $5 leaving $25

Each lady gets a $1 the waiter keeps $2

3 ladies equal $3 plus the waiters $2 equals $5. $5 plus $25 equals 30 the original amount.

You subtract 2 from 27 to equal 25, not add it trying to equal 30.
