For the record, I've been out of the loop for a long fucking time. No clue what the current market is like or whats hot. I was reading something about the new 1080 and 1070 graphics cards or somesuch. That's the depth of my current PC tech knowledge.
I'm looking to build in the next year-year and a half. I have no budget at the moment, I'm looking at what it would cost to build what I want. The timing on the build depends on the tech. Is there anything big coming down the pipeline I should be waiting for? I'd like something that can run Star Citizen, Assetto Corsa, War Thunder on a big tri-monitor setup at high/max settings. I'll initially only be doing a single monitor setup most likely but I want it compatible and capable of adding a couple more later on down the road. What components should I be looking at? What kind of price am I looking at for something like this? |

Quoted:
intel skylake i5 6600k nvidia 1080ti (comes out next month?) 500 gb ssd 16gb ddr4 ram should cost around 1400-1500 and play everything There's no chance a Ti version will be out next month, that'll be considerably further down the line. The normal 1080 and 1070 will still kick the shit out of any game out now or out in the near future though. |

Maybe four months at the earliest but more like 8-18 months out. If there is something worth waiting for I'll happily push the build date back. |

AMD is going to announce their new cards soon too, by the time you're ready to build you should have both the new Nvidia cards (the 1070 and 1080) and whatever AMD announces to choose from. Any of them will surely be a good choice, and the existing 970/980/980Ti/R9 390/etc... are still excellent cards. |

Just start saving and research, I got tired of waiting on Amd and Zen and was not impressed with the latest Intel offerings, ~%5-7 improvement with Skylake, so I built something a bit different. My build. In the next year to a year and a half any recommendations made today will be hopelessly outdated. |

My build: http://www.tucsonboudoirphotography.com/blog2/whats-on-my-desk
It was built for Photoshop but I built a bit of overkill and made it pretty gaming worthy. |
