Not just the ads in the beginning but the annoying popup ads during a video which I hate. $120 a year for just that? Yeah I will happily pay it. |

People start paying for this and then the Internet becomes nickel and dime hell. |

None of the channels I regularly watch are having pop up ads in the middle. Fuck YouTube if they start doing that shit. Most of what I watch is on full30 anyway. |

According to ABP there's 43 different ads on this site at the moment. Contrary to popular belief the internet isn't fucking free. Quoted:

I have it and I think it's great. Not only can I skip ads but I can watch offline videos just by clicking a button.
More importantly, I have a monetized YT channel and with the little that it brings in, I consider my YT Red membership helping to pay for other guys to make videos too. $10 is not asking much, IMO. PS. I heard that YT is not getting that many YT Red sign ups so it may not last long. I think that's why they're in talks to bundle television and cable shows, delivered via YT for additional revenue. |

I can only hope they don't make the non red experience so bad trying to push people into joining. |

Nah. From what I heard all the money goes to Youtube instead of being split with the content creators etc. This is not correct. They split it with the creators and you can see it in your Analytics. Quoted:

But I think the root of lies in the fact that you'll never convince someone to pay for something that they're used to getting for free. |

It's what generated massive traffic which is why companies pay a lot money to advertise there. Imagine if they originally were pay per view or a monthly charge? |

I was watching the usual channels on YouTube earlier and it happened twice. IIRC one of the times was while watching a Demolition Ranch video. |

Not that it would make it worth it to me, but does YouTube Red allow you to keep playing audio with the screen turned off? That's probably my only gripe with the YT app; the phone has to be awake. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Yes. I found a way around that though. Skip to the end of the video and lock the phone. The play button on my bluetooth headphones will start the video with the screen off. I can also use the replay button from the lock screen notification bar. |
