John McCain is afraid that Candidate Trump will doom his chances of re-elections...according to audio tape of meeting with political donors.

McCain on tape: Trump damages my reelection hopes
'If Donald Trump is at the top of the ticket,' the senator says in a recording obtained by POLITICO, 'this may be the race of my life.'

Publicly, John McCain insists Donald Trump will have a negligible effect on his campaign for reelection. But behind closed doors at a fundraiser in Arizona last month, the Republican senator and two-time presidential hopeful offered a far more dire assessment to his supporters.

“If Donald Trump is at the top of the ticket, here in Arizona, with over 30 percent of the vote being the Hispanic vote, no doubt that this may be the race of my life,” McCain said, according to a recording of the event obtained by POLITICO. “If you listen or watch Hispanic media in the state and in the country, you will see that it is all anti-Trump. The Hispanic community is roused and angry in a way that I've never seen in 30 years

Well.....as usual we got a guy who only gives a shit about himself. Not some first term Senator who has campaign debt up to his eye balls...but a guy who is married into a wealthy family who could have quit politics a decade ago and never fear missing a meal or a house payment. Knowing that all he cares about is his position in the Senate.

Appreciate his service and time as a POW but I don't like his politics. He epitomizes what's wrong with the GOP.

If McCain wants to act like some ideologically pure candidate all of a sudden, then he probably shouldn't have accepted all of that campaign money from Trump.

If he were "primaried" out by a conservative, great.

But losing the Senate seat to the Democrats isn't exactly something to applaud.

John, thanks for your service, sucks that you were a POW......but that does not excuse the fact that you are a supporter of despotic tyranny who would strip the rights of the people of this country.  You care only for yourself.  You are a cancer in American politics and have made this country worse, not better.

Being a POW does not inoculate one to corrupt politics, and he is living proof. It would help him if he could remember that he ran as a republican when he votes in the senate.

McCain was the first to attack Trump's Presidential bid. Trump rebuked him and for a brief instant there was a firestorm (war hero and all). Then unexpectedly, the public agreed with the first of Trump's many "this will kill Trump's campaign" moments.

Trump should send him a Thank You card.

I thought John McCain said he wasn't going to run for re-election the last time he had a re-election.  Why is he still around?  I know people were wanting to recall him back in the early 2000s but that never happened.

I worry that the anti-Trump vote will reflect a lot of lost seats down-ticket.

There are consequences.

Fuck him, RINO bastard.

I RDGAF if he's reelected or not, it's not like electing a D into his seat would change the votes coming from it.

Democrats vote for him based on his voting record.  He's not going to lose his seat because there's a R President.

They're delusional, not stupid.
