'Make my day' stunt

A Manhattan narcotics detective is in trouble for pulling a stunt out of a Clint Eastwood movie - giving his gun to a prisoner who had razzed him about his manhood, the Daily News has learned.
"Okay, now what are you going to do?" Detective Frank Sola said as he handed the drug suspect his 9-mm. handgun in a macho showdown in the 6th Precinct stationhouse, according to an investigator familiar with the internal police probe.
Sola had been escorting the man and eight others Saturday from a crowded, confined lockup inside the W. 10th St. stationhouse.
The prisoner was needling Sola, assigned to the Manhattan South Narcotics Division for nine years, after being collared for drugs earlier Saturday morning, police said.
"He got into a verbal argument with the guy from the time he arrested him to when they got to the 6th Precinct," said the source.
"The perp was telling the detective, 'Without your gun, you're s---," said the source.
When Sola later retrieved his loaded gun from behind the precinct's front desk and gave it to the man in a test of bravado, the stunned prisoner "got scared" and did nothing, police said.
But the detective's equally stunned partner, a 10-year veteran, told their supervisors about the bizarre actions.
"The partner became nervous," said the source, adding that previous incidents involving Sola had worried his colleagues.
"It could have been bloody. Thank God nothing happened," the source added. "There's 16 rounds in the gun."
On Sunday, the NYPD said it suspended Sola for the "good of the department."
