| Just put a house on 4 wooded acres, sold the old house and with it my Toro zero turn. Now I need a mower that will cut about an acre, but also haul things (wood, mulch, rocks, etc.) around. Budget is 5K. Go |

Kubota may still be offering 0% interest if you wanted to go that route. The BX series is a very capable machine for suburban and small acreage. Yes. That's why I mentioned the financing. It will last him the rest of his life. |

Will do much more than mow. I love my BX25, mow, dig, spread mulch(about 15yrds/year), haul wood, move heavy shit, clear snow, pick up leaves, make money on the side. Invaluable machine. ETA, I have had minbe for 3.5yrs and it just turned 250hrs, should be good for 3500-5000hrs. |

I am tilling gardens with it this month (edit triple tap) I'm just not willing to pay any more than 5 for what I expect to do with it. I could spend 50K and get a heck of a tractor, and would get about 5K worth of value out of it for all I'll do. I just want something that won't fall apart in 5 years. |

You have to think of it as an investment. You have bought a decent property and now you'll need to be able to properly maintain it. A little pain now will pay dividends in the future. Trust me, I tried to maintain mine with a cheaper craptatstic set up. I eventually broke down and purchased the BX. After 5 years, I can't live without it! |

Quoted: Why didn't you get the B, L, or M series then? as a better investment? ![]() People who have been there/done that are just trying to help . I had 9 garden tractors at one point, one to do each task I needed done and a couple spares for when my buddies wanted to play tractor with me. One with a tiller, one with a plow, one with a back bucket to move dirt, one for GP moving the splitter, wagon and trailer, etc. I was a bit of a collector at the time and it was fun, but a BX Kubota was the right choice and I just bit the bullet. My payments are only $200/month and its like mowing with a Cadillac. ETA, you can always buy used. |
| Looked at used ones, still outside my price range. I just need something to mow a little less than an acre, and move firewood, not plow, till, dig, grade etc. I just can't justify the added expense, maybe if they were like 7K but not twice my budget for things I may do once every 5 years. |

I stand by my original post with link. I mow over 2 acres with mine. Almost 300 hours on it over seven years and still running the original belts. Quoted:

Bump for some in budget input ^^^ this. a typical Lowes/HD "lawn tractor" is worth 1/10th of what you paid for it in 5 years. 90% of the value, gone. a step up to a "garden tractor" doesn't improve the situation that much; it lasts longer but the value again falls precipitously. a good SCUT (sub compact utility tractor) is worth about 9/10th of what you paid for it after 10 years. (you did in fact notice that the resale pricing on used S/CUTs is very high...) hence: it costs you less to own in the long run, and you can do more with it in the meantime. what's not to like? http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_19/681719_Show_me_what_you_used_your_tractor_for_today__pic_thread_.html&page=1#i11661629 http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_19/681719_Show_me_what_you_used_your_tractor_for_today__pic_thread_.html&page=1#i11661631 http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_19/681719_Show_me_what_you_used_your_tractor_for_today__pic_thread_.html&page=2#i11666778 http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_19/655776__ARCHIVED_THREAD____Implements_for_a_Kubota_BX_.html&page=1#i11194474 ar-jedi |

One of the best features of the Kubota is how high the deck raises. i don't take the deck off EVER except for over the winter. then, i can pull the blades and do general PM. see, http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_19/681719_Show_me_what_you_used_your_tractor_for_today__pic_thread_.html&page=13#i11725114 anyway, once you figure out that it is a million times easier to mount/dismount the MMM deck with the FEL on, you are golden. ar-jedi |

ar-jedi Lol. I tilled that one for hire. The man made part of one pass around the perimeter with that walk behind before I got there
ETA, he's got a nice little 3 gun range there. I shot it in the background of the last picture. |

OP- I've mowed 5 acres before which is a lot like mowing 1 acre 5 times.
You should just bite the bullet and buy this. It'll last the rest of your life. You can make payments, right? Buy once, cry once. Amirite? |
