| I recently bought a new threaded barrel for my Sig Pro 2022. When I clean the pistol I tighten the thread protector with a pair of padded pliers, but then when I go to the range it comes loose after a couple of magazines and I'm afraid I'm going to lose it. Stupid question time - am I SUPPOSED to take it off before shooting or is there something I can put on that will help it stay put but allow for it to break free when it comes time to clean it? |
Well, I'd say Loctite, but that does come loose with heat, so...
A trick a fella taught me was to use Teflon tape as a thredlocker. Works good, can take alot of heat (I used to solder joints with the parts already threaded together), and it comes right off when you unscrew it. |

Honestly I put some heavy grease on the threads on mine and screw down the protector, It wont stop it 100% from getting loose but it gets way way less loose. Some guys use a rubber O ring as well behind it to screw it down on. Me, I will stick with my grease, it keeps it on there and not coming loose enough to fall off when shooting. |
