During my time at Bragg during the 1990s we had a Humvee heavy drop land fine but there was gusts of wind that pulled the parachute load with enough force to flip it over

neat, how does another person's error make this thread title "legit"?

and not that it matters, but how does this supposed "legit" thread title which has a legitimate error in it any less of a duplicate thread?

I suppose those are just stupid civilian errors?

1,650 errors from navy.mil
2,970 errors from marines.mil
6,960 errors from army.mil

Fuel isn't cheap and I would bet the total cost of that operation in terms of personnel, et cetera was far more than the destroyed vehicles.

They experimented with tank crews a long time ago (1970's maybe?) but the crews didn't fair too well.

I've seen a Sheridan burn in. It left a big hole in the ground too. IIRC it was about three or four feet deep.

An M60 MG hit the ground about 10 feet away from me on a jump. That fucker actually bounced. Scared the living bejeesus out of me.

Well, the chutes seemed to deploy fine, so how does this happen? Excessive airspeed? Fucked up pallet? Fucked up mounting to pallet?

Serious question. Hell, we developed air-droppable light tanks in WW2. You'd think we'd have this shit figured out by now.

Meh, I just go by the TM.  If we really wanted to be picky, we can start calling it by it's actual nomenclature.  Truck, Utility, blah, blah, blah.
