In my old house I did a natural gas line from the garage, to the kitchen, the house never blew up or burned down.
No permits, not licensed, I do not know if either were suppose to have happened.

Dope the threaded joints, spray soapy water on the joints and check for bubbles. No bubbles, no leaks.

I ran all the copper for my cabin. Stove, lights, fridge.
Flare fittings and the TFE paste for GAS-not the stuff for water.
Soap it up, no bubbles, good to go.

Soapy water is bad for gas piping. I know everyone uses it, but it is bad.
Also flare fittings shouldn't have pipe dope used on them, it locks on the threads.
