The movie. It's on AMC. When I first watched it years ago, I wanted Goodspeed/Mason/the SEALs to win. Now, I'm thinking Hummel has a point:
- His men left to rot - vengeance -Target is San Francisco and all it's fuckedupness I think he's the good guy! |

We all have shipmates we remember, some of them were shit on and pissed on by the Pentagon. But that doesn't give him the right to mutiny. |

Cage isn't a horrible actor. He's just been horribly miscast a lot because A) He's a money-hungry whore who spends millions on dinosaur skulls and homes he's never been in. B) Enough people like him that if you shoehorn him into the starring role of your movie it's going to make an extra 40-50 million than it might not with Joe Blow (even if Joe Blow is a better "actor"). Blame the greedy studio execs, blame Cage for never saying NO to any script ever offered him, but don't say he's a horrible actor. He's done some very good roles in some decent movies. Leaving Las Vegas comes to mind, I could probably think of a couple more if I tried, but I'm not. Anyway, he's not in Sean Connery's league, but held his own in this one.
I wouldn't put him in that top tier of De Niro, Downey Jr, Brad Pitt, DiCaprio that could be both "Movie Stars" and could then go do Broadway shows to rave reviews....but he's comfortably on the level just below them. And that's a profitable and decent place to be. Hell, I'd trade lives with him. Even after that shit show him and Vince Neil put on earlier. |

the plot makes no sense
the general is angry because the pentagon denies benefits to the families of American special forces killed in the line of duty? since when? so even though he's a super-patriot and a lifelong SF guy he holds the city of san fran hostage with nerve gas? "you were unfair to special forces guys so if you don't pay me a shitload of money I'm going to wipe out millions of people with nerve gas." whose brain would hold those two notions? noble warrior and depraved terrorist at the same time why did he set up the rockets if he never really intended to use the nerve gas? they should have made the guy be the usual demented movie mercenary, then it would have made sense aside from that it was a good action flick, dumb Hollywood crap but entertaining anyway |

But yes, our official policy is not to negotiate with terrorists, so his whole plan was at best a public awareness campaign. At the beginning, you can tell he has nothing to lose because he waited until his wife died to do it. |

Good movie concept of James Bond getting out of prison 30 years later I've always looked at this as a Bond movie. |
