A radio talk show host who guys by the name "Dr. Laura" predicted this back in the late 1990s at the start of the "homosexuality is normal" movement. She said the acceptance--and legality--of pedophilia was the end game.

I believe that being attracted to children is a problem with the internal wiring of the pedophile's brain. That said, it doesn't make it okay. To act on it requires predatory behavior. If a person has this problem, the only legitimate option is not to act on the behavior. Once they decide to act on it, they need to be removed from society...permanently. |

I'd say that's true. After all, I can't imagine anyone choosing to be attracted to children. The same arguments regarding choice and homosexuality (did you choose to be attracted to the opposite sex, why would anyone choose gay given the way homosexuals are viewed and treated by society at large) apply even more to pedophilia. No one decided that they wanted to want to have sex with children.
Which doesn't in any way, shape or form excuse child molestation. The physical expression of homosexuality is between consenting adults, while the physical expression of pedophilia by its very nature creates a victim. It doesn't matter if it's called illness or orientation, it doesn't change the results of when someone tries to act on their urges. |

I honestly don't see how it's not a sexual orientation. It's a deep seated attraction that's not going to change. There are also plenty of non-active pedophiles. Pretty much all efforts to "reform" pedophiles has failed. That doesn't mean that molesting kids will now be legal (contrary to the conspiracy theorists). The whole "consenting adults" thing is pretty important.

Genetic disorder, personal choice, mental illness, I don't care.
Come after my child, and I will cure you of your "illness, orientation, and/or disorder" permanently. You will never suffer its effects again. And if I somehow sit on a jury for one of these cases, if it's a pedophile I'm judging, and he's guilty (given a fair trial), I recommend a permanent cure as well. If I'm judging a parent who cured a pedophile without legal sanction, not guilty. Some things, the only acceptable cure is a lead pill, dosage administered intracranially. |

I know it it has been dropped from the DMS (Diagnostic Statistical Manual). Basically the DSM is the way you figure out what mental disorder a person has. I have heard attorneys argue at length that in the future what their client is accused of will no longer even be illegal. If that day comes I will leave the country.

Eventually regular porn isn't enough, then they start looking at weird, shit, then more and more weird and extreme, eventually pictures and or video isn't extreme enough, then what? Well, you get rapists, molestation, etc. Now I'm not saying pornography is the root of it all, of course not that would be ridicules. But it's definitely a contributor. And I'd be the rise and ease of access to porn and the rise of popularity of the more fucked up stuff, it's a large contributor to this. |
