So the screen on my android tablet is on the fritz for good this time-weird colors and shit. Tried messing with it, no joy.

So I bought another one of the same model (except 16gb instead of 32) off ebay. I did some google searching on transferring android to android, most of them seem to be about phones, using a PC as a go-between the 2.

Does this really work, or is it just for data and such? I have a few paid apps I'd rather not pay for again, and I don't know if google play would let me re-download them to a different tablet for free.

Anyone done this?

As long as you sign in with the same Google account, you should be able to re-download apps you've paid for again for free, assuming it is compatible with the device.

Everytime I've upgraded my Android devices, I just logged into my Google account and everything came streaming down from my backups.

Apps are linked to your Google account, not the device.

Google provides free, easy backup of android phones to your google account.

If you don't want to back your stuff up using their system, that's fine, but then why should Google care if you can't migrate your phone data easily?
