Both my Ram and Dakota came with them and they work fine.
There is a place in town that will rent rims. Wtf is that all about.

Maybe Im just old and out of touch?

You've never put an aftermarket part on anything to personalize one of your possessions?

Or is this a subtle thread to follow up on the riot thread?

Rim :

Wheel:

The rim is the "outer edge of a wheel, holding the tire". It makes up the outer circular design of the wheel on which the inside edge of the tire is mounted on vehicles such as automobiles.

I suppose you could buy/rent rims, but they wouldn't be any good without the rest of the wheel

With that said - some people don't like stock wheels and/or want wider/lighter wheels for performance reasons.

The latest trend around Greenville are the super low profile RIMZ that look like fucking wagon wheels.  I smile a ,or when I see them, knowing how bad SC roads are.

Seriously, no reference to any other thread intended.

Sure, gun grips and such  but never a vehicle.

I think the second post nailed it I just dont know what is cool, especially if it is defined as a 65  chevy pimpmobile.

The rims that came on mine were not the right size for the application.

$1000 car with $3500 worth of wheels and tires on it.

My car came with two different wheel sizes, so rotation was impossible. They were also heavy. And they looked just like every other wheel on every other car. I bought new wheels which are several pounds lighter, look great, and are all the same size so I can rotate.

My factory came with nice wheels but they are heavy.  Unsprung weight it the devil.  So I put winter snow/ice tires on them and have a set of lighter wheels with max performance tires on them for summer.  No mounting and balancing needed twice  year plus I have the optimal tire type all year round.  Floor jack and a little time and a torque wrench is all it takes.

Then again I tend to keep my vehicles for 10+ years.

Here are the aftermarket wheels:

The only time I buy wheels is so that I can have a dedicated set of mudders for my truck.  I hate to spend the money, but all terrains don't always cut it.  It's nice to be able to swap them out in a relatively short time.

Yes, the car is Guard. It's amazing how different it looks based on lighting. Wheels are 19" MRR VP5 in gunmetal.

The PP wheels aren't bad looking at all, but I wanted to shave a few pounds and had to have the VP5s when I saw them. I like the GT350 wheels too, but I have to be a little different (yes, I know I bought a Mustang lol).

You left out the lift-kit; those wheel-wells wouldn't clear those rims otherwise.

More like $6K in rims once they get done paying all the interest allotted onto the weekly payment plan; but they can finally afford those "spinners".

I've had 2 cars that came with "rims" that "didn't work".  Not that there was any structural damage to the wheels, but the factory rear wheels were in a size that you can only get racing tires for (255/45R16).  These were street cars so I had to get wheels that would accept street tires (17's for one car, 19's for the other).

I put wheels on most of my trucks.  Still have stock 17's on my new 1 ton.  Want to get some 18's when I get larger tires.  I'm done with the 20/22" trend.

Gold 24's on the other hand....... Sort of want.

These giant wheels are funny because I just downsized to 15" rims on my car to reduce unsprung weight, even at an inch wider. One of those things has to be heavier than all 4 corners on my MR2

For putting larger tires on your 4X4 sometimes a new rim (wheel) is required. Sometimes you have to change the offset to avoid rubbing the tire into the body, etc.
