Been replacing some old ass canned lights that let a shit ton of cold air in with LED ones. Replaced 8 so far. LED only uses 13.5w (800 Lumens) and has a lifespan of 45 years with a yearly cost of $1.87/yr.

Box of 2 are $25.00 but they fit real tight and stop the cold air too.

just today I've removed about 8 old bulbs.   I have a 3 pack of 6 60 watt LED bulbs on the way from amazon

Switched most of my bulbs to led and have been happy. The only exceptions are the fluorescent tubes in the basement and some candelabra bulbs in a chandelier. I did get some humming with mine when I installed a dimmer switch. I wanted to dim lights in the dining room but ended up staying with a standard switch.

Every bulb in my house is LED. It's great.  I don't even remember what it feels like to change a bulb.

Slowly making the transition. Some of the first CFL's I installed around 10 years ago are starting to go.

If you're going to go with dimmable LED's, it's best to spring for a dimmer that is rated and specifies LED/Fluorescent dimming.  The other ones may work but are unpredictable and not recommended.

I have a four Duracell brand 8.5 Watt 2700K dimmable types in the cans in the kitchen. They replace total POS CFL's.  Got them on a coupon deal last fall.  So far so good, the color temp is good, no complaints at all.

Whenever I have to replace a light fixture or desk lamp I now go with LED.

Brighter, whiter light, less electricity use.  They just cost a bit more on the initial purchase.

Just put LED tubes in one of my fluorescent fixtures in the garage, bright and instant on.

Yep.

Got rid of the incandescents last year and replaced them with LED, I even replaced my CFL's with LED (I hated the CFL bulbs).

I'm more than satisfied and happy with the LED bulbs.

Yep, I switched to almost all LEDs already. In a few months, the transition will be complete. I love them.

Those are great.  I have them in any commonly used or hard to get to lamp.

I also put in a cheap ass Commercial Electric flushmount lamp in one room- amazing output.  I then replaced my shop lights with LED fixtures from Sam's Club- awesome coverage.  I'm sold on them.

I tried the compact fluorescent when those were all the craze but most weren't worth a damn.

I cut over 2000 watts out of my lighting system. Outside floods, tons of 50w track light halogens, etc.

Almost every light in home is now LED. Have 6 120W can lights and 4 exterior floods that are only ones not changed.

Not really. At the time of the transition we also had a baby so my usage patterns were all over the map. Theoretically I am using less wattage so that helps me sleep at night.

The 5 year warranty was what really drew me to the Cree bulbs.

Mine are almost all LED, granted I might not save much money since I keep some lights on close to 24/7.

I'd like to do this, but many of our ballasts are starting to die in those fixtures. Replace ballasts and convert to LED bulbs, change ballasts and continue with flourescents, or change fixtures entirely?

I switched out virtually every bulb in the house with the exception of the fluorescents in my garage and laundry room. My Master bath has 10 globe bulbs in it and replaced them out with LEDs. I went from using 400 watts to 100

Home Depot recently lowered their pricing on Cree 60 watt bulbs and I bought a bunch from Costco as well as the candalabra size. PECO Electric was providing rebates so they were fairly inexpensive.

My house is 90% LED. I change from the CFL bulbs as they burn out with LEDs. Cheaper to buy a few a month.

My house is 98% LED. I'm just waiting for a couple CFLs to die and then I'm 100%. One of best moves I made with this house.

Been slowly transitioning to LED in my home as the incandescents and CFLs die out. For the most part I despise CFLs but have been very happy with the LEDs so far. I found it important to get the desired color temp.

If you do have any savings don't expect it to last forever.  Electric utilities have lobbied for rate increases due to decreased usage because of customers switching to LEDs.  You'll save money for a little while, but, in a few years you'll get whacked with a rate increase and you're back to where you are now.

It's not cheap to switch over. We've gone mostly CFL, and I don't relish another transition. I did put 4 LED bulbs in the ceiling fan over the pool table. They seem to work ok. My game hasn't improved, but I can see my missed shots much better.

As others have said, use a LED comparable dimmer. Old magnetic/resistance dimmers do not play well.

I have 2 flourescent fixtures left in my house- 8 footer in the garage and a 2-footer in the kitchen. When they die they'll be replaced with LED fixtures and then the house will be 100% LED.

I've seen a noticable reduction in my power bill as well.

I buy them when they're discounted by the power company.  IE, $1 apiece for A60. Type 60w bulbs.

Unfortunately, I'd prefer 100w equivelants.

I replaced 12 in my kitchen about 5 months ago.  4 are pulsating.

Buy a name brand.

Changed 6 poorly performing four bulb fluorescents in one of the garages with 4000 lumen LEDs. Excellent light at 240 watts vs 960. Replaced all the regular 60 watt bulbs and all the 65 watt can light bulbs inside and out with  8 watt led replacements . Larger can lights next, then on to all the oddball misc. GU base hallway bulbs, ceiling fan lights, small lamps, spots, patio, driveways and other garage/workshop fluorescents. Must be 200 bulbs around here....

Recently upgraded the house a/c system , ductwork and attic insulation along with replacing all the windows in the house. Looking forward to some lower electric bills as summer rolls in.

I love them.

Do NOT buy the Polaroid Brand LED Bulbs, they are cheap for a reason!

I got a 3 pack and all 3 failed within 2 months, one of them had the base go boom and crack open.    I've had great luck with Sylvania and the lower cost CREE ones in the same locations.

Just sat down on the couch after replacing all 6 of my can lights in the kitchen with the LED retrofit cans. Very happy with the difference! Have been replacing all the bulbs with LED as they go out sense I brought the place 6 months back. The kitchen has been the biggest improvement so far.

With LED's you remove the ballasts altogether.  Your decision just got easier.

Switched to Sylvanias 5000k 60w equivalents in the whole house. Didn't notice much change in the electric bill, we leave the lights on more though.

A few months ago Walmart had a sale on led lamps, 60 watt equivalent drawing only 9.5 watts for $1.88 each. I replaced all the lamps in the house for under $100. And cut our energy usage by 2/3.

Hmmm.........maybe I should look into this.  I have 4 retrofit led canned lights in my bedroom on a dimmer switch.  2 of the 4 work perfect the other two dim and flicker at times.

I am changing them out as the CFL bulbs fail or I find a deal.  Anything new is getting leds.  Looking forward to a cheap led bulb on a medium base 5k in the 150-200W equivalent range to replace my basement lighting.

Love leds.  They have a lot of options color wise.  I'm even getting some of the wireless leds so I can turn them on before I get home and not bust my ass coming in the door over my damn dogs.

Were you using CFL bulbs before?

According to my Kill A Watt Meter (and some adapters), the LED bulbs draw about 1-2 watts more than CFL bulbs of the same equivalent wattage.  (14W vs 17W)

The light is bright instantly, even when it is below zero out, which is why I love LED especially for my porch light.  The CFL bulb would turn candle bright in very cold weather, while the LED was normal brightness.

Not sure but that's what the box says.

Probably used some kind of fuzzy math.
