What a giant piece of fucking shit. A four year old with a Flintstones phone could make better reservations and save a pile of damned money. Oh, book an airline you say? Yeah we'll get right on that - not interface properly with the airline then fuck the taxpayer out of $16.50 so the traveler can sit on hold with the fucking understaffed travel agency for three hours waiting for a 10 second conversation. Oh, have to piss really bad? Fuck you, hold longer. Don't dare walk away because those mother fuckers know somehow. They will answer then hang up on your ass.

Want to make some changes a few days prior to travel? Fuck you. This process takes weeks mother fucker.  A hotel you say? Let me find you 50 hotels that exceed the per-diem rate when clearly a couple keystrokes on Google and half a mushy brain can find better rates without fucking over the taxpayer. Oh shit! I better flag everything you do, because God knows you are too retarded to know that $83 is less than $89. No fucking shit. I'm trying to save some money here, but apparently it's a crime in this wonderfully audit ready piece of shit.

Hey I saved some money by printing a damned coupon! Fuck you, that's not authorized. Why are the numbers different? Fuck you.

87% of "DTS" problems are caused by asinine unit policies/procedures.

8% are caused by every Joe on the planet trying to make reservations between the hours of 0830-1100.

5% are caused by genuine DTS fuckery.

It wasn't uncommon for us to get TDY orders with one a couple days notice. Or have to change travel plans multiple time (on a weekend). Never had any issues.

But I agree. The travel agency is a scam and a lot of money is wasted because of the way DTS books stuff. Want to pay top dollar for the worst flight possible? DTS. I don't think I've ever booked a commercial hotel or ticket though (GF's job) so maybe I'm blind to how terrible DTS really is.

The one and only positive thing about NOSC Ft Worth is the OPS staff. They will call you instead of kicking it back, and frequently fix it wile you are on the phone.

I wrote a nastygram about that very thing on my last auth. They kicked it back for an issue that would have taken three seconds to fix, which then required four people to look at it again. What a joke.

For you guys that haven't used it lately, the JTR now requires you to use it for hotels, and it's supposed to interface with DOD lodging and spit out non-avails and/or reservations. It's required, but none of that shit works right.

Its okay, they hired the Obamacare website folks to fix it.

DTS is just a representation of the government it supports.  Confused, complicated and many pointless features, run by retards.

Mandatory GTC use (the fuckass CITI travel card) and DTS for travel (agent fees) are some of the biggest scams out there.  Responsible adults can book their travel more efficiently and cost effective. But just as mil members can't be trusted with firearms when not in a combat zone they can't be trusted to book travel.

I ended up on the 90+ day bad boy list this year.  I deployed over the FY change and because of some system upgrade the AF was unable to pay me (and a couple ten thousand others) my travel pay.

It's also baffling how bad the government is with their (our) money.

We have had trips where you get very close to maxing your card before the accrual is paid... Then say you have extra expenses that weren't on the auth, and you have a commander telling an E-3 to just pay the balance for the interm... It's only a couple thousand dollars.

Then there's the opposite end of the spectrum, where snuffy thinks it's OK to buy tires for his car on the GTC because he's on orders. Those days make me wish we still had corrective custody.

We've never had a problem paying people over the FY crossover, but then again I'm Army and I've yet to be in a command where the other finance people I work with have been ate up.  Usually it's the units not following the directions we gave them.  Shit I used to have a slide by slide powerpoint presentation on how to do everything in DTS.  But the units always ignored our emails so their soldiers always got bad info and got screwed over.  Then when the units would try to blame us we would send all the emails we've sent stating how to do everything.  Plenty of UA's and commanders have been fired over that stuff

There is no actual maximum on the card, the GTCC guy can just increase your limit in USBank and boom you now have an increased limit.  You're also supposed to file supplemental vouchers along the way.  Also, I can't help that commanders want to screw over their soldiers.  In our training, we explicitly state at least 3 times, that if it's not on your authorization you CAN NOT claim it or pay for it on your GTCC

I had TDY to Aberdeen and I was supposed to land the day after Winter Storm Jonas dumped 18"+ of snow on Baltimore. What a clusterfuck that was trying to rebook flights that were canceled due to weather. Then they had to cancel and book a new rental car, and a new hotel since the original wasn't available for the extended TDY. Fucking disaster. Would've been easier to cancel the original orders and create new ones. Overall, I spent at least 6 hours with my admin creating my orders and vouchers. What a waste of 12 man hours!

Oh, when we did the switch from AFCOS/STANFINS into GFEBS it was in the middle of a fiscal year so my state, at the time, didn't have to deal with any of that nonsense.  If GFEBS wasn't working we'd just move money over to AFCOS and use it there.
