I'm currently (and happily) running 7. A couple questions for the guys who have knowledge & experience:
1. If I were to replace 7 with 10, is there a way to turn off the data collection features? From some people's descriptions, 10 is a big spyware package. 2. My wife installed 10 on her computer and then was surprised that none of her music & videos would play. We checked into it and found that Windows Media Player is not supported by Windows 10. What do you recommend for media? We aren't high end users - we just like to listen to music.
Thanks. |
VLC is the standard for media. If VLC won't play it, you don't need to play it.
As to the spyware stuff, I have no idea. Some people say it's conspiracy nonsense. Some people say it's going on but since it's anonymous it doesn't matter. I say it's the main reason I have zero interest in even trying W10. |

Works for me too. I upgraded from 7, not a clean install. Not sure if that matters. Quoted:

Windows Media Player works fine for me. I just tried it. I upgraded too. So maybe. |

so its official now? win10 includes spyware? cause there was plenty of folks here telling us it was all horsecrap Sure, in the same way your Android phone does, if you're going to throw "spyware" around as an all-encompassing term that no longer has any useful meaning. |

Windows Media Player works fine for me. I just tried it. She had 8. When she installed 10 no media would play and I searched Google. An article saw said WMP wasn't supported and we'd have to find a third party player. Personally, I'm a recovering technophobe with borderline Luddite tendencies, thus the questions. |

VLC is in the app store in Windows 10. |
