The Do Not Call Registry is nothing but a joke. Several years ago I put all of my phones(cells, business, and home) on do not call and it worked fine until last year when the calls started coming back. So I reregistered all my phones again. Did not seem to make a difference so if I was actually talking to a person I explained I was on DNC and would be filing a complaint at which they hang up. Been Filing complaints to the tune or 1 or so a week since. And today I was on my business line and my cell rings I see 866 # so I hit ignore. They call right back so I ignore again and decide to google the number and it is the VA(Veterans Administration). On the VA's page it says Veterans Choice which lets Veterans receive health treatment close to home if they are over 40 mi. from a VA clinic. I am not a Veteran although other family members are. I guess the VA does not have to comply since no one else seems to comply anymore. Before I can solicit business by mail or phone ( even from my existing clients I still have to run their names thru do not call do not solicit. |

I used to register every cold call, but then did a bit of research and so it turns out, absolutely nothing is being done. Sure the Gov claims fines have been levied against a few companies, but nothing more. All these small local companies calling, nothing will be done. I now toy with the callers, usually have them repeat what they are saying and to speak up louder. |

Plan A is to add their number to the 'Spam' caller in Google Voice, so the phone won't ring when they call. Plan B is to get rich, buy some call tracing equipment, and burn down the call center's building.

Another caller, after a bit, I mentioned is this discount valid in Arizona where I reside. He apologized and hung up |

The auto warranty and "free vacation/cruise" guys don't follow the Do Not Call list or remove your name on request. I have to continually add the local area code numbers they are spoofing or burning to my auto reject list.
I will have to look in to that True Caller app. |

For those that take the trouble it's a easy $500.00 + in your pocket depending on your small claims court fees and number of violations.
The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, signed into law by George Bush the elder, led to creation of the ragingly popular Do Not Call List. But tucked away in the bill was another important provision that entitles consumers to take what’s called a “private right of action.” For each violation of the act, consumers can sue for a $500 penalty. Violations include calling after a consumer has told a company to stop, or failing to provide the consumer with a copy of the firm’s Do Not Call policy. |

I just block the number. I don't get too many unwanted calls. This. Any number that calls me, if that number is unknown to me, I don't answer. This. If it is important they will leave a message or call back. If you suspect it may have been legit and they don't leave a message you can Google the number. If it is a scam or telemarketer someone else online would have bitched about the number. |
| I registered everything with the do not call list, still got calls. I made complaints that did nothing. Now, the phone company (Comcast) won't even install software that would allow me to use the NoMoRoBo device that the FCC said was the most effective way to get rid of robo calls. |
