For those that listen to them where do you get your content?  How do you listen to them? Phone tablet USB?

I'm in the car about 90 minutes a day and I'm thinking about getting into audio books for the drive. Id like to run it though my phone into my stereo. I don't want to wear headphones while driving.

I have Amazon prime which is where I'd probably get the books.   Is there any particular app I should use? Do I download the books to the phone do you stream them?

Any help. Would e appreciated.

Thanks
Art

I convert everything to mp3 and run them through my truck's stereo via a USB stick.  Prior to getting this newer truck with the USB connection, I burned them to CD.

Don't know about Amazon Prime, there's probably some way to get them in different formats.  Lots of audiobook torrents out there too.

Bluetooth audio into my car audio. I like the Audible app. It makes long drives entertaining.

Many public libraries will loan audiobooks on CD, which can be ripped to mp3 for whatever device you like.

CDs or mp3 format from the library is one option.

Used bookstore, especially if they have a clearance rack, is another.

Youtube is another.  Search youtube for an audiobook you like.  Put the URL into something like listentoyoutube.com.  Download your mp3 file.  A word of warning on this.  The book will be one BIG file - 12 hours of audiobook without chapters is large.  My mp3 player seems to lose it's place in time in the book when I shut it off and then turn it on again.  Probably the timer in the firmware of the mp3 player isn't designed to handle files that long.  It takes a little searching to find your place, but no big deal.

As far as how to play them, if your stereo is new enough it should have a USB input and maybe an auxiliary input that you can plug a cable into from the headphone jack.  Another option is a set of speakers for your tablet or mp3 player.

Back in the old days I had an old car that only had a radio and the car wasn't worth upgrading the stereo on, so I bought a cheap boom box and used books on tape.  When I got an mp3 player I plugged it into the aux input on the box.  It was clumsy but worked.

ebay for purchasing used audiobooks. (look into the Teaching Company courses). You can then sell them on ebay to recover some of your purchase price

Someone mentioned torrents. No point in breaking copyright laws to get free audiobooks (even if they are all over the place in torrents).

Might be worth it. Can they get modern titles?

Overdrive app on my ipotato.
Borrow (down load) up to 5 at a time from my pubic libary.
I haven't entered the brick and mortar library in probably 4 years.
I listen all day long on an LG Bluetooth head phone thingy.
Helps me ignore the voices in me head, not to mention the EEEEEE! from tinnitus.
