So I hate Facebook. But I have a dilemma. Apparently using Facebook messaging is a very good way of communicating with people overseas. Both of my kids are out of the country and their phones and texting apps are not very reliable, but comms through Facebook seem to work the best. They keep in touch with mom is way, but I'd like to be available too without navigating her page.
Is it possible to set up a Facebook account solely for the purpose of using this feature? I don't want to see all their crap and I don't want anyone to see my profile. I don't want to be bothered by "friend requests" and crap like that. Can the profile settings be adjusted so that only my boys can see me and vice versa? I would delete the account once they are both back in CONUS. 1DD |

Sounds like you've created in your mind a reason to hate facebook, while actually wanting to use facebook.
To answer your questions, there is no need to have your profile public where anyone can try to "friend" you, no need to accept them if they do, and no need to see what anyone posts you don't want to see. All facebook drama is invited drama. You might just find it's an excellent tool for communication. |
