I've been collecting WWII stuff since around the time I turned 18, nothing too special really but I realized that I didn't really have pics of any of it.

I figured as I grab a few things to take to the picture spot I'll post them up, post 'em if you got 'em.

First up is a 1944 BYF Kar98k, everything is intact but someone knocked the eagle off of the stock. Signs are that this was a Yugoslavian capture. It does detract from the value, but it means even more history there. At least the Rooskies didn't molest it.

My grandfather brought a 1917 back from France, it was passed down the other side of the family though.

Im kind of cheating on this one, but I couldn't pass it up.

HRA M1, IIRC it was made in 1953. The trigger group is WWII SA.

I have a few more but I'm not sure I want to dig them out, it's a long walk.

Dunno about that.  The guy with that WWII Jeep is a pretty good contender.

I will have to raise him a WWII Purple Heart.  My grand uncle (my grandmother's brother) was a BAR man who earned this at the Battle of the Bulge.  What sucks is that he absolutely REFUSED to talk about his experiences in the war.  A ton of history is now gone forever.

3. full auto thompson
4. nazi marked luger ( early war, for best fit finish)

I've way too much, so here's a few pieces.

A few of my helmets.

German memorial frame.

Inert.

M-1 with grenade launcher.

Those are a few things. I have an entire room full of WW2 items.

Edit: heck, I forgot about these pics. I set up a WW2 display for Veteran's Day last year. Here it is. This is maybe 25% of my collection.

With the number of troops vs the number of rifles, you can almost guarantee that either a Russian killed a German with it, or a Russian died holding it. Both are likely.

Sorry, nothing so dramatic as that.  They are bring backs from vets whose trailer trash families didn't care about them and sold off for their next packs of smokes.  I collect them because I do care about them, and want to preserve them for future generations. .

That Type 95 Shin Gunto (not a katana) is a sword that a Japanese sergeant would have had.  It is in near immaculate condition and isn't even sharpened, which tells me it probably never saw combat I.E. taken off a soldier stationed in Japan throughout the war or found in an arsenal somewhere. I bought it 25+ years ago when collector snobs preferred officer swords and were turning their noses up at these sergeant swords.

It has a thumbprint marked in rust on the blade from when the owner touched it and didn't wipe his oils off.  It's almost like a ghost trying to reach out through time and trying to talk to me.

Muzzle cover.  Both for storage so that debris won't enter the rifle as it's stored on a rack, as well as a little port that opens to let soldiers clean the rifle without gouging up the muzzle with the cleaning rod.

This is a brick I obtained in 1990 in Berchtesgaden, Germany from what was the remains of Hitler's garage at the site of his house, the Berghof.

I jumped in through the center window you see here, and picked up the brick from the rubble within. With the exception of the retaining wall which ran around the backside of the house, the garage was the only other structure remaining on the site. It too was later completely destroyed and removed so now only the retaining wall remains.

I was stationed over there for a number of years. Kind of a history nut, I always wanted to visit Berchtesgaden, so we made it a weekend trip.
