With summer coming, I would appreciate suggestions for something to read at the beach. I typically like humor and have enjoyed: the Flashman series by Geo. Fraser; Rumpole by John Mortimer; A Confederacy of Dunces by J.K. Toole. Also anything by: P.G Wodehouse, Christopher Buckley, S.J. Perelman, James Thurber and H.L. Mencken.

Let me recommend Douglas Adams to you as well before Zaphod shows up. Don't forget to take a towel.

The Jeeves and Wooster stories by PG Wodehouse is some of the funniest stuff ever written.  I'm not exaggerating in the least. It's also done with an amazing unique style that takes on a life of its own.

P.J. P'Rourke:  Holidays in Hell, Give War a Chance, Parliament of Whores.  And he'll make you think while you laugh.

ANYTHING by Dave Barry.

I first read "Catch 22" in high school.  I got in trouble for laughing out loud in the library.

Thanks everyone.  Raven, one of my biggest regrets is there is nothing remaining of P.G. Wodehouse that I haven't read. He is [was] the master.  I've even gone back to things he wrote in his late teens, early 20's.

I enjoyed the "Xanth" series by Pier Anthony.  Humerous fantasy stories with a lot of puns.

Has anyone read the Fletch books by Gregory McDonald?  The Chevy Chase movies were based off of them, and they're supposed to be really good, but I've never seen them in a bookstore.
