MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Virginia senate will soon consider a bill which would allow the Commonwealth to execute condemned inmates with the electric chair, should the Department of Corrections not be able to provide the chemicals necessary for a lethal injection execution. The measure, House Bill 815, passed the House of Delegates last week. It’s sponsor, Del. Jackson Miller of Manassas, expects a tougher fight in the Senate, but is hopeful for its prospects, as a nationwide shortage in execution chemicals has moved the matter from the academic to the actionable. In presenting the bill in the house, Miller made direct reference to the case of Ricky Gray, whose brutal torture and murder of a family of four in Richmond in 2006 shocked the commonwealth. Gray is scheduled for execution March 16th, but according to Miller, the department of corrections lacks the chemicals to carry out the sentence. View Quote |

In an effort to conserve energy they can start at low voltage and slowly increase until the job is done

Dr. Phibes-grade nutbag psychotic torture.
N2 asphyxiation does the job, cheaply, guaranteed, and absolutely painlessly. |

Good. Now they should bring back the gallows and public hangings.

Actually, Virginia gives the choice of either the chair or lethal injection. Somebody demanded and was executed in Virginia's electric chair as recently as 2013.
Damned if I would, but it is nice to be able to pick....I guess..... |

If executed properly, the firing squad is 100% effective.
It is also unquestionably usual and not cruel. It is beyond me why this option isn't more widely used (not used in the Commonwealth). (Edit to add: there apparently has been at least one case in history where the squad managed to f*** up this method. See above: "correctly"). |

Google botched executions;
I remember hearing stories where they just screamed over and over while getting electrocuted and fire shoots out their head. |
|
I'll take care of it for a fraction of the cost of the electricity.

Good
Wonder how long it will take the ACLU to file their suit if it passes |

The old executioner at the "Walls" said that back when they did the electric chair executions at the old State Penitentiary in Richmond, Virginia and delivered the hits to the convict all the lights would dim. He said the guards in the cellblocks told him it would get eerily quiet and stay that way the rest of the night.
I understand that when they moved the chair to Greenville Correctional Center (where all executions in Virginia are carried out now) the chair got it's own power source. |

I'm opposed to capital punishment, but I can't find even the slightest concern over whether it's done by injection, electric chair, hanging or a firing squad.
Who cares? |

Wouldn't my choice to die if I had a choice.
Here they called it Old Sparky. |

Can organs be harvested with asphyxiation? May as well get something useful from them before we send them off. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

May as well get something useful from them before we send them off. That method would work as well, I'm pretty sure harvesting their organs will kill them. |

The entire town should get to know that justice was served because the lights across the entire town dimmed for a second. |

Constant voltage, increase current and frequency until dead. 460v 3-phase would be the best given the 60Hz system we primarily use in the US. |

Isn't the easiest solution a firing squad? View Quote That, or the previously mentioned asphyxiation method using N2. Gassing the fuckers with N2 is super easy, as N2 is totally non toxic, has no special storage or transportation requirements (its non hazmat), and all you need to make it work is an airtight room. Strap the fucker down, walk out, seal the room, pump it full of N2. Wait 10-20 minutes to make sure fuckface is dead, open the vents to the outside, walk back in, unstrap dead asshole, dump body into garbage bin. And the whiny liberal cunts crying "cruel and unusual" can eat a dick, as N2 is routinely used to put down chickens and other animals. |

How about instead of a chair they put probes in each ear and the anus......then roll on two.
