I don't want to see another Obama nominee on the court, but I think 4 Hillary or Bernie nominees is even worse

The knee jerk reaction to Scalia passing away now is no Obama nominee now way no how nothing until after the election. While I would love to see him blocked and anyone but Hillary and Bernie become POTUS I don"t think we can have our cake and eat it too. The demonrats are ruthless, soulless, unprincipled, stateists  who will stop at nothing to fundamentally transform america. They will happily use a charge of "obstruction" to pry their way into a hillary or bernie win. I wouldn't put it past them to try to demoralize their opponents by gloating 24/7 if the senate caves either. So, that leaves us in the situation we are in now. At what point to we say one stateist justice is better than 4. will anger at the GOPe for all the other times they caved when they should have fought lead us to losing the war by winning this battle. I may not like it but I will understand it if it comes to that. sometimes you need to retreat and take cover to keep fighting. sometimes you sacrifice a pawn, knight, rook or even queen to capture the king. we're not there yet, but we need to be ready if that time comes.

I may be wrong and keeping the vacancy open might not cost us the oval office, but by god I will not give up the fight just because I got sucker punched. I will not stay home sulking, I will not let the demonrats get by without me voting against them, and I will not let any of this keep me from supporting anyone over the demonrats in November including Jeb, Carson Kasich Rubio Cruz or Trump. any damn one of them.

I had to get that off my chest.

Didn't use one fuck but, still not a terrible political rant.

They should cut a deal to put Cruz in Scalia's seat and let Obama replace Ginsberg with a competent liberal.

Impeach?

ammo box?

OK maybe not. That still leaves 2 that have already seen their 79th b-day out of Breyer, Kennedy, and Ginsburg. So no gain no loss if the remaining 2 don't last too long. We'll still be in a precarious situation but it won't be the total shit sandwich losing out on the Whitehouse again would be. We end up with a draw rather than a checkmate. If 2 more stop breathing or the demonrats win the WH again it's back to the first two options....but God if we win and those 3 don't last bye bye 5-4 hello 6-3 for our side Thomas, Roberts Alito,  and 3 others we just have to keep our spirits up and not fly to pieces over the current setback athe SCOTUS. That would be checkmate.

Will the R's still stand fast if Obummer Nominates a fairly middle of the road judge who was recently voted on by the Senate and got 90 or more votes?

Crap situation to be in, having recently voted for a person for a Federal judge job, on  the Court of Appeals or where ever.  Now a few months or a year later voting no on that person.  Good enough for one bench but not the other.

Sadly no matter how this plays out the R's will be fucked come November.  The D's and the MSM will spin this as R's failing to do their job, R's are obstructionists, R's causing gridlock, the D's play ruthless and are damn mean they also play the long game.

The Democrats back in 60 made a little snippet that says no to election year supreme court appointments.

I love how suddenly all the Democrats are quoting the constitution as ironclad, no questions asked regarding the appointment and consent. I wish they had written in "shall not be infringed" here too so it could be used to defend the 2nd amendment too.

That's a reasonable defensive position, and you get an originalist replacing an originalist. I take that deal. But Obama never will.

lol OP most people don't even know what the supreme court IS. No one fucking cares about "But you're obstructing the process and the Senate has never delayed a vote on a President's nominee this long before!!!! Guys, you don't understand, I was totally apathetic about politics before but this is different OMG I think I HAVE to vote Democrat now, this is just too much!"

No. Voters are fucking stupid and don't give a shit, mostly. That's why you get poll results like this:

I heard that FBHO is considering Loretta Lynch as one of his possible nominees.

If she gets nominated and confirmed we are truly FUCKED.

I'm not completely naive. I know people mostly don't care, but the demonrats are very good at painting the opposition as evil power hungry corporate shills who want to destroy social security, medicare, gay rights, black people's rights, women's rights, Trans human rights(I'm sure that'll be a thing to them in a couple years or so). The fact that they are apathetic will make obstruction on a supreme Court nomination easier for the demonrats to paint as an attack on whatever special snowflake cause the idiots think needs its very own hashtag.

In this case I agree with them.

The Republicans will be insane to not stop this because anyone with half a brain knows what sort of degenerate we will get via Obama's choice.

Well, it took longer than I thought but here it is.

Took them 2 days to figure out how to make blocking his nominee racist.

The Rs already fuck this up by saying they wouldn't approve anyone Zero nominates.   Fucking stupid.  McConnell is a moron.

The Ds will play this up as an women's rights/abortion issue and get their base out, even ones that would have sat out a Hillary election.

Zero will give us a gay, minority, woman etc. nomination and will work that to make Rs look more out of touch.

The party of stoopid has struck again.

I agree with that part. They could have said "It depends on who the nominee is",  It wouldn't look as bad as Fuck No no matter what.
