Other than the 1911 of course, the market has gotten smaller and smaller. I remember of an age where pretty much everyone had either a double or single stack .45 ACP pistol in their lineup. Beretta, Sig Sauer, Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, CZ, etc… Hell, even Taurus had one. Everyone had one. Well, slowly but surely the time marches on and things change. Everything is going polymer; which don’t get me wrong. I’m happy that progress is being made; but the market just seems more bland and boring now. No real variety in design; everything is pretty much a Glock clone or is pretty much a CZ design minus a few originals that haven’t been killed off. So what is in current production right now? Stoeger 8045 (Beretta with a new name) http://www.stoegerindustries.com/sites/default/files/styles/model_hover_large/public/originals/product-firearms/stoeger-industries-cougar-pistol.png?itok=kpfz2T9G Sig P220 & P227 http://www.topgunsupply.com/images/P/220r-45-bss-sao.jpg https://www.hogueinc.com/data/store/products/1488444434.800x800.jpg CZ-97 http://cdn.cz-usa.com/hammer/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/cz-usa-cz-97-b1.png SAR K2-45 https://www.gunsamerica.com/UserImages/145003/963617852/wm_5044591.jpg Tanfoglio Witness .45 http://www.impactguns.com/data/default/images/catalog/535/eaa_999158.jpg No longer in production Colt Double Eagle Series 90 http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/573/10294277/img_0062.jpg_thumbnail0.jpg S&W 4506, 4506-1, 4566, and 4566TSW http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s10/BigDogatPlay/DSC_0857.jpg http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/4241203238/10506498/picture%20581.jpg_thumbnail0.jpg http://www.hverovhe.com/4566.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wf1WyeQ.jpg Ruger P90 http://www.realguns.com/images/rp90lhsdclsd.jpg Astra A-100 .45 http://images.extrabullet.com/img/guns/38860.jpg Star Firestar .45 & Megastar .45 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/larryf1952/Guns%20and%20Targets/StarFirestarM452.jpg http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/conworld/images/f/fb/STAR_Megastar_03.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120404145750 Taurus PT-945 https://www.gunsamerica.com/UserImages/26038/906056492/wm_2988117.jpg I just find it kinda boring. No more different designs, no more different look or feel. It all pretty much is either 1911 or CZ for the metal framed .45 ACP pistol. Only Beretta and Sig still have something different on the table. Out of them all, I believe only the Taurus was the really crappy design. Pretty much everything else went bang when the trigger was pulled. The Colt Double Eagle Series 90 pistols had some QC issues but that was more of a problem with the 10mm guns I believe. The .45 ACP guns worked and what was cool is that they used unmodified 1911 magazines. I don’t know… I just kinda miss the options back then. View Quote Why you give boner at 7 AM????? |

I used to have a Beretta Cougar 8045 (prior to Steoger making them).
It was the first .45 they ever made.
Great gun, very well made.....not sure why I sold it. |

I was new to guns and did not get a lot for it. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j243/gdsjr/handguns/LLAMA_OMNI_0001_zpsx3ee8nwa.jpg View Quote Almost looks like a Colt Double Eagle. |

Para Ordinance Hy Cap .45.

HK 45 and USP
FNX 45 (Nevermind - polymer framed.) Systema Colt 1927 I have both an Astra A-100 in 45 and a Star Firestar M-45 (neither are current production, BTW). Nothing wrong with the Astra, but I always wind up thinking I should have just got a Sig, especially since Astra closed their doors. The Firestar is an awesome little pistol, though its manufacturer is also out of business. |

The Taurus PT945 wasn't a bad gun. Mine went bang every time, was accurate and easy to carry. It just hammer bit the hell out of me.

They're great solid little guns. M-JBT is right about the current selection of all-metal pistols in .45. Back in the 80's-90's it was pretty much a prerequisite to design a pistol and offer it in both 9mm and .45ACP. I miss those days Now it's all about making them as small and light as possible and the 9mm cartridge makes it possible to have a high-capacity pistol in a small package. |

My 4506 is an awesome gun. Getting rid of it to fund an AR10
Great gun though. All the heavy frame .45s shoot great...hardly any recoil. |

There may not be an abundance of options, but what do you feel like you're missing?
Between my 1911s, CZ 97, Bisley Blackhawk Convertible, and my 625 PC, I don't really feel like I'm missing anything there. The only other gun I want to add in this category is a 645 to go with my 39-2 and 4006. |

Firestar .45, compact and very easy to control.
Parts can be hard to find so I don't shoot it much but would not hesitate to carry mine. Armslist offering, not my gun. |
