I'm not a computer savvy person by any means. I have a laptop that is our go to computer when the phones aren't adequate. Everytime I/it does updates, it gets almost all the way through and says the updates weren't done right and its reverting changes. This leads to my current problem. I just purchased a programmer for my truck and I need to upload the custom tune that was written for it to the programmer. The file that needs to be on the programmer is apparently a .6 file and my old ass laptop won't open it for some reason and says the file may be missing something. I just downloaded the file from the manufactures website. Also, I tried looking for updates for the computer through toshiba and it says my computer is up to date as of December 2011 and there is no internet connection to see if there are any new updates.
I'm not completely fucking stupid, I know I have a got damn internet connection and I know damn well it is not 2011! How do I fix this crap? |

Which version of windows is this?
If win 7 see link below. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/failure-configuring-windows-updates-reverting/9672dd48-7187-47a7-bd8d-076228c4ed67 The .3 file might be an IBM Voice Type Language Script Data File. If you got software for the truck programmer try opening it with that. |

Usually you have to download the software from the manufacturer of the tuner as well. You open that program up, then follow the instructions on how to upload that .6 file to the device while it's connect to your computer.
If it's an SCT, you can give those guys a call. They'll remote into your computer and help you out. Tuned 2015 Mustang GT here. |

Thanks y'all. It is an sct tuner and there is a cd. The cd says its for warranty and return info so I didn't consider running it. Also, it looks like I have Windows vista home premium in it. The link i posted should work with Vista. Turn windows update to notify about update but let me install them. And then manually update a few updates at a time in batches of 2 or 3. See if you can update the virus definitions first though. One of the updates might need to be installed by itself. |
