I see there are some 50W LEDs that they say are equivalent to the 500w halogen fixtures. Have any of you tried them? I have a few fixtures on one circuit in my pasture dry lot but I'd like to really light it up without needing to run a larger buried wire out there. My worry is how they'll hold up to the weather. The halogen bulbs are cheap and easy to replace, but they are energy hogs. |

I have a 50W bulb in my garage. I believe it was marked on the packaging as a 300W equivalent.
I've had it for about a year, through all the seasons in a non climate-controlled garage. It's been exposed to a temperature range of 30-120° F. It's pretty bright, good color, no complaints. It's activated by a motion detector and we use the garage for primary exit/entry of our house. It probably sees 10-12 on/off cycles a day. Apparently, I bought it on January 19, 2015. It was $80 at the time, now it's $100 on Amazon |
