Three weeks ago it would already be dark outside right now.  Now it looks like the sun is just about to set.

Summer is coming.  All the SAD sufferers can start cheering up.

The solstice was 12/21 (or around) so yes they are getting longer.  Here in KY the sun doesn't set until almost 10 pm in June.  It's awesome.

But yes, thankfully the days are getting longer.

I support this.  No more going to work and then back home in the dark.  Plus my running shoes are calling...after a couple months the treadmill is dead boring.

Not in the part of KY where I have land.

Sun sets at about 8 in the middle of summer. Surrounded by big hills.

Happens...

December 21 = shortest day(light) of the year.
Then, as if by magic, each day becomes progressively longer until June 21 - the longest day(light) of the year.

On and on and on and on...

Well, seeing as Dec 22 was the shortest day of the year, the days do start getting longer from there on. Just sorta works out that way.

March 22 is the spring equinox  ...first day of spring

June 22 is the summer solstice  ....first day of summer ...and the daylight hours start getting shorter.

September 22 is the fall equinox ....first day of fall
