I was thinking of doing the same and going down 2 or 3 teeth in the rear.

yeah, for my bike, i cant find much on it...seems everyone goes up a tooth or two on their primary (smaller) sprocket..and dont mess w/ their secondary too much......i DID find one post of a guy runnin a 15/40 setup...i believe 40 rear is stock for my warrior and 13 front is stock.  i'm gonna do a little more homework before i buy...but bung..if you decide to...check out www.rockymountainatv.com they have the best prices around on ATV gear.

going down in the back might give you more ground clearance. Just remember it will hurt your take offs and hil climbing so you may need to pipe and jet it to recover the loss.

I just rode my buddies 700cc 04 Kawasaki sport quad. V-twin tq man! It was FAST. It was a real nice quad, very rider friendly but BIG.

In general, the F/R ratios are 3:1 or 4:1.  You can make big changes by going larger in the front by one tooth, or smaller incremental changes by changing 1 or 2 teeth in the rear.  If your going for more top speed, don't forget that it will change the first gear climbing performance as well as changing the spread between gears.  To the extreme, 3rd may rev too much and 4th lugs too slow.
The right compromise is usually only 2 teeth at the rear.
