Hello,

I'm new to this sight, and don't know where to post this question, so please excuse my difficulties within this forum. Anyone with the patience could answer this simple question, and settle the matter before I overstay my welcome with more poorly placed threads. Again, my apologies.

I'm trying to search up previous AR-15 threads so that I don't irritate people with the banalities of reposting general questions that have been asked and answered a hundred times before. But when I try to control the search, everything is 'greyed' out. That is to say, beyond a search word, a forum name, and the security code, it won't let me determine the search criteria listed by accepting choices from the options in the search engine template, .

Given that, I have persisted, and tried several times to search general topics that I know exist in proliferation on this sight, but it always returns that it has found nothing containing those words; even if I type in something generic like barrell, or Colt. What do I need to do? I've clicked on and read the forum and posting rules, and the code of conduct, because some sites require that those be visited to enable privilege. No luck though.

Thanks for any insight you may have!

Search is greatly restricted for non paying members. Which is a shame because that's the group with the most question and the one most harassed for asking them without searching. The easiest search for you will be google. Type ar15.com then the topic in Google and you'll find both active and archived threads on the topic.

Just use google and put AR15.com after your search words.

$24 will fix all your woes.

What I did when I first started reading here was just read every damn thread, particularly the tacked ones, in the tech forums.

We're nice to bagged milkers, mostly.

Post up your technical questions in one post and we'd be more than willing to help you out.

Well, for one, spelling "barrel" correctly will probably help improve your search results....

Try this:

google "site:ar15.com ______________" . Fill in the blank with what you want to search for.  Remove quotes.

Hello,

Thanks for replying! I didn't even know that memberships could be bought that would allow greater access to this sight. And thanks for the tricks to get around it until I commit to paid membership. Once again, its been a very positive experience posting on AR-15.com.  On other sites (who shall remain nameless), there seems to be far more non-administrative individuals dedicated to the task of 'missing the point' of every post, in order to criticize or pick a fight. I guess what they say is true...a gun culture is a polite culture. Thank you for you reasoned replies.
