I've never seen sheaths like eli10's which have the hole and holder for the end of the grip. Who makes them? Do they hold the knife securely? eli10, can you or anyone else post pics of those types of sheaths with knives in them? Thanks. HighSpeedSteel The are Morseth Safety Lok. Harry Morseth patented them in 1953. They actually have a fiber insert that the knife locks into. The tab with hole is a secondary holder. http://www.google.com/patents/US2650008 |
| I've got a little Case jack knife (peanut?) that belonged to my dad. I like it but I'm always afraid it might fall out of my pocket and get lost. I usually carry a Victorinox Cadet that kind of fits the same role for me. I've been wanting to get a Case Stockman with an awl though. |

I carry either a Case Trapper or Mini-Trapper while hunting/trapping. My mini has skinned hundreds of animals. What is that? |

Everyone is always posting the tacticool knives, but is anyone still into real knives? http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb332/Moahdib/IMG_01891_zpsvo3f6pdi.jpg My grandfather was realling into knives and carving and gave me several of his pocket knives. I'm just now starting to try learning a bit about carving and it's been really fun so far. Was wondering if any others were into pocket knives and carving? Yes, glad to see all these. Last Easter at a friendly get together we got to talking knives. I brought out a handmade quality fixed blade. Some kid whips out a Made In Taiwan assisted opener, slaps it down on the table and says "It's legal." |

Real boring? Real Cheap? Real Tactical?

I used to carve and whittle a lot. Relaxing and I should take it back up.
Nice knives from your grandfather. I like a nice clip point blade for whittling. Good for details. I have carried a larger folder in my pocket with a clip for quite sometime. But I always like having a smaller stockman or Barlow style around. |

That knife in the center is a Case Seahorse Whittler...and is one of my favorites for casual woodcarving. |

the 3 -bladed Case at top right in OP is pretty much my first knife. it's in my top drawer in the bathroom. I guess it's been mine for 40 years. That one and the lower left one are some of the ones my grandfather gave me and what really got me looking at case knives |

2 Randalls, 2 Chris Reeve one-piece hollow handles (I'm afraid to use, as they are no longer made & collectible). Fallkniven, multiple tactical folders....etc, etc, etc
And I use the scissors on my Victorinox Executive key chain knife most, multiple times through the day. 3 more years to my Randall 26 in stag.
I like the Case slip joint, non-locking kinves & carving. It reminds me of a more "civilized" time when gentlemen carried such items & .25ACP & .32ACP were enough for vest guns & pocket pistols. Oh, the good ol' days! |
