| I want to order a printer that's not wireless but I don't want it on my desk plugged into my computer. Is there a device that I can buy that I can plug in the printer via USB across the room and have it print wirelessly? |

15 foot usb cable? |

You've got tons of options. Wireless print servers exist.
Many home routers and those designed for "power users" have print server functionality. Another option is to get a cheap ($100 or less laptop) install the drivers on it and stick it in a closet or under your desk or whatever and use that if none of the ready made solutions will talk to that printer. You can share the printer that way. |

I think this one will work

it will work, but it seems very pricey. |

It would appear so. Keep in mind it'll need to be in range of the router so you can run an ethernet cable to it. |

It was on sale I think from CDW for $182. FYI the 4XL dropped down to ~$130 back in May 2015 I believe on Amazon. |

Buy a printer with an Network adapter built in and plug it into your router/switch.
Example: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Deskjet-Printer-C8970A-B1H/dp/B000CO9ZMI |

He doesn't need any random networkable printer. He needs a very specific printer that has limited compatibility with most off the shelf print servers. |

Dang Dymo seems to be getting over on people by selling a wireless print server. IMO it should be already built into the device. This isn't 2005 Unless you're stuck using Dymo I'd probably look at some other brands. |

buy a netgear router with "readyshare" on it. too easy to be believed. plug printer into usb port on router; install netgear software on computer, and you're done. the printer shows up normally under the "print" dialogue on your computer. This. Doing it now with a Canon All-in-one. And now that I finally have an updated wireless router with an USB port, I want / need a wireless router with TWO USB ports. So I can stick my phat media drive on the other port. /now I'm only five years behind the tech curve |

Is there some reason your stuck with that model printer?
You might as well just get a Zebra wifi label printer like this. Your going to be sorry if you cheap out on this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zebra-GX420T-Wifi-Wireless-Direct-Thermal-Transfer-Label-Printer-GX42-102710-000-/371470026794 Print server devices are a pain in the ass. I know this from experience having of having a cheap IT manager for years that would not purchase net workable printers which then had to be networked with plug in print servers. They dont work half the time and need constant rebooting and flash upgrades. |

Look at the brother line of thermal label printers. We've had great luck with them and many of them are network capable. Some even have wireless built in. This has wireless and the next model up also has Ethernet http://www.amazon.com/Brother-High-Speed-Wireless-Networking-QL710W/dp/B00814JRJM |
