I'm selling an item on the EE. One guy sends me an IM with the following text: INTERESTED What type batteries and does it appear to be working ok?
An hour later a guy posts an "I'll take it" in the ad and IM's me about payment options. I couldn't find a rule in this regard and thought the matter to trivial to take to a mod. Who gets the first dibs, IM of "interested" or posted "I'll take it"? Poll inbound. |

Personally I always favor responders with more positive feedback if I haven't commited to anyone, and see if a deal culminates or not, then fall back on the 2nd guy.
If the interested guy has far less, or no feedback, but the 2nd I'll take it guy does, I'd go with number 2. |

I'll take it would be the one. Post a "first one who says I'll take it gets it" in your ad next time. I always forget to do that myself. I always say "first 'I'll take it' in the thread" so everyone sees it. Plus I hate when an item is marked sold when there are no apparent other interested parties. Finally, no accusations of favoritism when the time stamp is there for everyone to see. |
