Thinking of either the Shield or the Glock 43. Glock appears to be smaller but the Shield has more capacity. Thinking of the extended mag on the Shield too.

I usually carry a G19 but want a thinner gun when I'm doing stuff around the house.

Any other single-stack 9 recommendations are welcomed.

I love the shield. I don't even bother with a holster anymore. Just plop it in my pocket and go.

Some of the folks are digging the 43, though. There is a thread here in GD about it. You may have to scroll in a little bit.

The shield is by far the nicer weapon.  The Glock is underwhelming.

Khar makes a few very thin, very light and very well made slim-ass wonder-nines.

I carried a CW9 for a long while. Finally went back to a double stack .45 .... you know .... a man's gun.

I guess I'm the one guy who hated the shield. The trigger was awful. Didn't want to spend the money to fix it.

I do like my G43, though. I actually like the Glock triggers.

This gun is DEAD TO ME. Their magazines have FTF problems that are well-known, and Ruger's "fix" is for you to send in your defective mags for brand-new defective mags.

Interdasting. I have heard that the G43 trigger is 87 lbs but have not heard any gripes about the Shields. Is it gritty? The reset? Pull weight?

I'd say make sure you hold both. I felt like the glock's grip was excessively thin and the shield had a considerable advantage in how natural it felt in my grip, without sacrificing much for size.

I picked the shield, but also keep in mind it's a bit cheaper, and it comes with the extra extended magazine

It seems to me that your thread is suffering from poll fail.

If this were my thread, I would have added the Walther PPS and the Springfield XD-S, assuming that only 9mm subcompacts were eligible.

But if your main concern is having a small gun that you can have on you at all times, IMO you should also be looking at a .380.

The newer Shield don't have nearly as bad a trigger as the originals.
You can really improve them with a polish.

Apex makes a drop in.
I haven't read anything negative about them.

G43 feels like a standard 5.5 to me. I could be wrong on that though.

The shield trigger felt, in my experience, like a worse version of the M&P trigger. It may have simply been that I got a lemon, but it was nasty take up, crack, then that faint M&P "reset" that just feels odd. My dad has a stock M&P9 that is better than the shield I had.

I'm not a S&W hater but the shield just didn't work for me at all. It was easy to sell, though.

Don't like the PPS mag release (designed by retarded monkeys imo) and I have heard that the XD-S's had some issues (including a recall I think). I have a .380 but want something with a bit more punch. Thanks for the recommendations though.

My shield was a fairly early one. As popular as they are, they must've improved the hell out of that trigger.

PPS !!!!!!!!!!

Check one out somewhere if available !

True the mag release is different & really isn't that hard to get used to ....
But the PPS I have is accurate as a full size " insert just about whatever here "
and for the prices I've seen them go for lately is a no brainer not to have one.

I put the Apex in my shield for my everyday carry. Its very easy to install and gives the Shield a fantastic trigger.

Carried a full size colt .45 and became used to how a single stack carries compared to double stack 9mm.

Love the Shield.

I always carry extra mags; not so much for capacity but in case of a malfunction (oftentimes mag-related). I will re-consider the PPS.  I have an affinity for monkeys.

I also have chosen the PPS. I am very happy with it and really like the mag release (on some of my other pistols too).
Glad to see you at least were aware of the option and had a ruled it out with reason. My vote will then go with Glock per your Walther decision. Best of luck OP

Tried the PPS. Mag changes were weird, slide lock breaking issues reported, backstrap issues reported but it can be glued on or pinned on. Mags are stupid expensive : not for me
Tried the Kahr CW9. Reliable (~700 rounds) and smooth trigger, tore up my hand with slide bite and the trigger guard whacking my index finger. Mags hold the top round at a weird angle  :not for me
Tried the Shield.  Poor trigger and recoil was more than the CW9. Never really liked the feel in my hand: not for me
Tried the G43 and loved it.  Excellent trigger, great size, with a Taran tactical +1 it is a 7+1 pistol now and still smaller than the shield. It handles recoil amazingly well and shoots great. : Winner

ETA: My Taran +2 with the upgraded spring they provide is very unreliable and not used.

I have been carrying a shield a lot lately and for the most part I dig it.

A buddy has a pps and I put a bunch of rounds through it, and it is a nice gun, but it isn't as rounded and easy to conceal as the shield, but it shoots better.

I have been thinking about the Sig 938 though and I  regretting not ordering one from psa on black Friday.

Go check out both to see which one you prefer.  I did and ended up with the Shield.  I think it's a great gun.  I'm amazed that something so small can shoot so well and be so accurate. It was a perfect choice for me.  The Glock may be better for you, though, so check 'em both out.

Picked my wife up a Shield for her Birthday this year and its a great little pistol. Easiest concealed carry pistol I have ever owned. even though its not mine I do carry it on occasion and have been considering getting myself one as well. Great for waistband carry and comfortable even in the car etc.

My wife has been to the range with it and did great. Recoil is good for a small frame and she was accurate with it as well.

I'd say a Sig P938, go smaller for potential pocket carry (granted deeper pockets.) The Shield is a nice package, (haven't had eked a 43 yet) but I think both are needlessly too big. There's almost no case where a single-stack is better with IWB/OWB carry over a G19.
