After the fifth, I googled "carrie mathison annoying" and found countless pages dedicated to ranting about this stupid twat... half the approach of Homeland is to get away from the Jason Bourne "Superman" agent cliche. as a career CIA case officer, Carrie is anything but infallible -- she likes her sex, she likes her alcohol, she says bold career-limiting stuff to high ranking people, she has a long term mental/medical problem, she is emotionally involved in a high wire act with a potential terrorist, and so on and so forth. that's the point. THAT'S THE POINT. she is a partially broken person doing a very complex job, not a made-for-1980's-movies-James-Bond identikit with an exploding Lotus Turbo. everyone was all ga-ga about the Bond legacy reset with a sulky, out-of-sorts Daniel Craig; this. there is a reason Homeland is popular. the writing is good, Saul Berenson's character is good, Peter Quinn's character grows, and it's an excellent series to binge watch. season 5 is really good. note: below clip does not give anything away, no spoiler. ar-jedi

Everything else, the writing, the characters are all good. |
