You will be happy with it One of my favorite guns I own. I'm a big fan of smooth cylinder revolver's Edit: one day a few friends were comparing their ccw's and the guys with the 10mm and .45 thought they were awesome and were laughing at my other friends who had 9's and .380's. They were trying to make fun of me as they thought I had a 9 with me and I pulled out the gun in the op and it shut them up quickly , then they asked wtf I was doing carrying that hand cannon and I told them I'm a man using a man's gun none of those pussy calibers for me ![]() .
It's my woods gun as well but most times I just carry my G19 or 1911 |

Or bad metallurgy? I would guess some type of operator error. I want one of those to!
For now, I like my 4" Mountain Gun. Easy to carry, rather u m, "spirited" to shoot with full power loads!

Or bad metallurgy? Not so much "bad" as...they're just not long-term heavy-use firearms. I've seen some compelling forum threads that indicate they have a typical service life of between 2000-3000 rounds before that might happen, if fed hot loads. Weak metallurgy in a particular weapon might reduce that service life. I had a scandium .357 that was purchased used that suffered a similar "front fell off" incident a few years back, after we'd put a few boxes of ammo through it. I'm pretty sure I managed to get at least one round off without the barrel on the frame any longer, judging from the damage to the crane. Sent it back to S&W, they "analyzed" it for a month or so, determined that it was "metallurgical failure" and basically offered to replace it with whatever I wanted (since it was a discontinued model). I chose a 329PD. Hey, it's happened once already, I'm not afraid of having it happen to me, and worse-case scenario is that S&W replaces it. *shrug* With .44 Special loads it feels like I'm shooting a normal 1911. Magnum loads...are a bit different. Not terrible with a Hogue on there, but definitely noticeable. |

Most of the hikers I know are all about minimizing weight and bulk. You gonna hire a coolie to haul that boat anchor around for ya? ![]() Most of the hikers you know have never met a pissed off black bear, you may want to mention shaving the front sites of their glock 20's or some such stuff |

Not my style. Not enough grip to hold on to it, going to kick like a mule at that weight, and give you .44 Special velocities at best. As long as you like it though, I hope it serves you well. If you want more grip just grab a hogue, it's ment to be more like walking softly with a big stick anways |
