This just came into the address I use for job searching. Someone a little more desperate for income might have overlooked the stench of scam coming from it.... :-/ I mean, it looks PERFECTLY LEGIT, right? The domain it refers back to was first registered in 1997, but it is now just a landing page for a registrar, so I'm thinking they were compromised and a scammer is using them as cover.

Not doubting you, OP, but why should people be worried about this? A scam for a job that pays slightly better than minimum wage? $1800 a month is $21,600 a year. My 17 year-old daughter can find a job that pays better than that.
Usually, a scam is something that seems too good to be true. This ain't it. |

If you take the job, the first package will be something simple, like a piece of furniture, or a kids toy.
It'll get sent just fine, and arrive at the other end ok too. The next package you send will be something just as simple, but the day after you send it DEA will kick in your door, shoot your dog and haul your dumb arse away for forwarding $500k of meth hidden inside said object. |

Quoted:
Why would they need freight forwarders? What is it that can't ship direct to the end point, and needs someone in the middle to break the shipment down and reship? You'll get a certified check to cover the cost of shipping item X. The check will be for much more than the shipping and you'll help your new employer by depositing the check, keeping some of the extra money, and forwarding the balance typically by wire transfer. The certified check will be a fake and you'll eat it. |

When you're desperate, you'll find yourself more willing to place your trust where you shouldn't. (no - it wasn't me) There are other variants of this too. A Secret Shopper job is one of them. |
