Really good movie

Agreed, damn good movie.
Villenueve really impressed me with "Prisoners" as well. Both films are really well done, especially with his ability to build suspense/intensity. Does a good job with his use of music too. Prisoners and Sicario are two of my favorite movies from the last couple of years. I own Prisoners, and will pick up Sicario when it comes out, and I don't own many movies. |

I am wondering why I didn't hear about it back in 2013. Especially since it has that preacher "kid" from there will be blood. Something about him just makes me want to pop him in the nose. Good to see Hugh Jackman roughing him up. |

I thought it was well filmed, and had some great action scenes. The evil CIA routine gets a bit tired though. I didn't get 'evil' CIA out of the movie; more like 'willing to do whatever possible to try to stem the tide'. Regardless, fantastic movie. Josh Brolin was great, IMO. |

My impression was that it was the explanation for the good intentions behind the clandestine US support of one of the Mexican cartels. Or something like that. It was the vibe I got, anyway... |

I just watched it. Some really artistic filmmaking at some points, the equating-CIA-to-Mexican-druglords schtick gets a little thick; and what ruins good shootout scenes is when rustling clothes, talking, falling brass, and gunshots all have the same volume. Gives it a real casual feel. Main character was kind of wooden..... OH and they have a SAW chambered in .50BMG!! http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm94/svc350/Sicarios%20SAW%20.50BMG_zps5rmoehxi.jpg This is why Heat rules on run and gun battle scene. At worst a muddled moral landscape. |

Great movie. The studio has already green lit a prequel that will fully tell Alejandro's (Benicio Del Toro) story of how he became a bad ass. Oddly enough, in this context I believe the past tense of "green light" is "green lighted." Or maybe "gave the green light to." Anyway, is it still in theaters? |

It is being released on Bluray/DVD on January 5th. Amazon will start streaming in on December 22nd. It might also still be in some budget theaters, I guess. |

I thought it was well filmed, and had some great action scenes. The evil CIA routine gets a bit tired though. To be honest, it wasn't totally evil until Del Toro told Blunt to sign or suicide. Up until then, I thought it was kinda "Welcome to the real world, you stupid, whiny cunt." I thought Blunt sucked. Or the way the character was written, anyway. |

Kate needed to shut up, shoot druggies and sign the damn paper. Her partner got the idea. |

I liked Sicario... it didn't really go the way you expected it to. Seeing the previews, you really thought it was going to be about the female character, but it really wasn't.
The action was fast paced, brutal and very realistic. It was very intense. I liked the part where they go past the gate at Luke AFB. I was seeing the movie with a female friend. I quietly blurted out "I was born there!" She thought I meant El Paso. LOL |

I'm going to be the dissenting opinion on this one. It wasn't bad, just not great.
It was a typical, formulaic Hollywood movie. Bad thing happens at the beginning, bosses get together in cool conference room, super secret task force started. Blunt's character was poorly acted and unbelievable (even when attempting to suspend disbelief). She's a superstar agent but doesn't carry herself like one. SF scenes were hard to watch. Briefing: "Will all the Delta guys identify themselves". The plot was too easy and predictable. Having said all that, it was beautifully shot and accurately portrays the shit show that is happening at the border. |

Blunt's character wasn't chosen because she was a 'superstar' or something along those lines. She was chosen because she was good enough, and had no significant other, no kids, and was likely to sign the paper. At least that's my take on it. |

But when they are discussing her at the beginning, they referenced her outstanding casework history and the number of her officer involved shootings. I'm probably being too critical, as I am with most movies these days. |
