I have a wireless N router (cisco valet m20) so theoretically it should get 300 mbps wireless speeds. My laptop has wireless N card - Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n COMBO PCI-E NIC.
My internet speed is 110mbps, which i've tested with wired connection and it achieves that speed. My wirelss speeds on my laptop only can get around 30mbps. I've placed the laptop a few feet from the router with no obstructions. Will buying another router get me faster speeds? I read reviews online about the cisco valet m20 and that wirelss speeds can be slow. |

I burn through routers every few months. We usually have a dozen devices constantly using one, and every one of them choke eventually but one.
Of the options out there: The Netgear Nighthawk AC3200 X6 is the only router I have found that can handle all of the crap I throw at it for extended periods of time. Not a single reboot in 6 months. The runner up is the Linksys WRT1900AC. It ran about 3 months without needing a reboot... but then because a routed that I had to reboot every day or two. So YMMV. |

I just purchased one of these to fix an issue I was having with my Comcast service. I have the 75mbps service and my laptop was getting around 0.5mbps. Now that I've got the new router going my laptop sees between 80-90mbps. |

Right now I have 28 clients connected to mine, and that's on the low end of what is connected at peak times. From TVs, Xboxes, phones, tablets, computers, rokus, smart sprinklers, surveillance cameras, media server etc. Asus RT N56u has been going strong for 2 years plus with no issues. Months and months with no booting. 5gz wifi is smokin fast. |
