| Ok, so if the AWB never reaches GWBs desk and the ban dies, what happens at that point? Can dealers then call Sig Arms and order semi-auto versions of the Sig 550 or is there a lot more to it then that? (Yeah I know the chances of the Brady Center, DU, and others that are anti-gun would let this law slip by without a word is well.....impossible, BUT, what if the law did die?) Do you think HK, Sig, Steyer, FN, and IMI would rush to import semi-autos of their fav weaps? |

Unfortunately, it's not quite so simple. Theoretically, if the AWB "dies", all of the listed firearms would become available for purchase with all of the assorted "naughty bits" i.e. bayo lugs, pistol grips, collapse/fold stock, etc. The SIG550? The ATF would have to rule it a "sporting" firearm. Huh? Ever wonder why you can't buy a semi Enfield bullpup (IWS)? What happened to the semi STEYR-AUG? They were ruled to "have no sporting purpose" by the ATF (I believe during GHWB admin) - the same thing as the USAS-12 (the 12 gauge shotgun that looked like a '16 on steriods - ten round mag, and all controls almost identical to 15/16). Now, if the Prez told ATF to lighten up AND let his fellows in the congress ensure the sunset of the 922r changes, well....that's a whole new issue! (I'd have to get a 3rd job!) |

I think the correct term is anExecutive Order - like when Klinton suspended the importation of cheap Chinese ammo and SKS's to "punish China for human rights violations"...while he pushed the renewal of their MFN trade status...all with the swipe of a pen. |
