Ever hear of? Incestuous amplification: a condition in warfare where one only listens to those who are already in lock-step agreement, reinforcing set beliefs and creating a situation ripe for miscalculation. How about.... Confirmation Bias: the tendency of people to pay attention to evidence that supports their views and to dismiss evidence that contradicts it - even if the credibility of both pieces of evidence is about the same.
