Last Wednesday night was my last day of work, I am now officially retired.

I can't remember how old I was, but my first "job" was delivering papers.

I worked for Hardee's, carried papers again in high school (40 miles per day motor route) and then found an industry that has been very good to me.

I worked for, in some capacity (keys to the building), the same company since 1980, that is almost 36 years.

Not very many people outside of Government employment have that experience these days.

True, "back in the day" if you jumped jobs alot, it suggested that you may not be a good employee

Not true today

Congratulations!
Glad you made the jump.
I'm on the fence myself.  I did my 25 years officially 2 weeks ago and am not quite ready to leave just yet.
Couldn't wait to get my time in, and now, not so sure if I want to leave.
But I can leave if I want to.

After a time, the thrill wears off and it's not as much fun or challenge as it used to be.

I just didn't look forward to going to work.  Now I will miss the people, they are a great bunch.

It was time for me.

Me?  I'll work until noon they day they put me under, probably.

Congrats, OP.  You have the Plan of No Plan.  Very Zen.  I'm jelly.

Congratulations!

I'm kind of "semi" retired and probably always will be (knock on wood)
Fortunate that I'm at a point I can pick and choose the jobs I want as long as the insurance is paid and what's left over for my shooting toys
I have a small farm to keep me busy and many neglected hobbies I love doing
(yet, here I am on arf )

Enjoy!

Congratulations!

I was off work last week for a long holiday.  No alarm clock, made bacon and eggs, worked out, relaxed and read every day.  Spent some quality time with some hobbies.

I thought, "I could get used to this!" then realized I have a couple decades to go.

Enjoy!
