The amount of derp on FNC in the last day is reaching new heights. You'd expect this on CNN or MSNBC
If they say "high power weapon" one more time, I'm going to puke on my keyboard "OMG, he had a rifle that could shoot through a wall and go 600 yards!" Changing the channel for my own sanity. |

Funny, the wife and were just talking about this - heard it on Fox News.
People who know nothing about guns seem to think there is some magical "military grade weapon" or "high-powered rifle" that must use exploding bullets or something, but is somehow magically powerful. They don't know that a 30-06 deer rifle is "more powerful" than an AR-15 used by the military - they're just in awe that it's an assault rifle. With a shoulder thing that goes up. It's just discouraging that Fox News perpetuates this shit. ETA: And let's not forget "weapons of war". FBHO. |

I agree that they are retarded for falling in with the narrative. But instead of whining about it we need to be calling and emailing them to correct them and remind them not to be libtards. Their brains are probably getting scrambled from living in New York for too long. |

For your reference FNC's email is [email protected]
I've written them a few choice words, and hope you will too |

Anyway, I included that comment in my email to the editor as it was particularly derpy |

I'll never forget the time that Sean Hannity was calling suicide bombers, "homicide murderers."

According to Faux News helium is highly explosive. Yes, that was a statement made by their Pentagon correspondent during that blimp mishap and Shepard Smith never called her out on it. So fuck Faux. And then there is the insulting the entire Star Wars fan base thing too. |

Little embarrassed to ask, but didn't "High Power Rifle" originally mean achieving 2000fps or more? Which is pretty much every bottleneck caliber since the 1890s? Quoted:
Little embarrassed to ask, but didn't "High Power Rifle" originally mean achieving 2000fps or more? Which is pretty much every bottleneck caliber since the 1890s? Pretty much that. As the term is ambiguous, it would depend on whom you ask. Many say it's "any center fire caliber"...Many say "anything .308 or bigger" I believe the modern (liberal) definition is "anything that is scary looking to us"...
ETA: In looking for a serious answer, Google led me to this on thefiringline.com from a guy named "281 Quad Cam" July 14, 2006, 10:26 AM I thought it was purely a media-invented phrase to scare the public. It would seem that a High Powered Rifle is any rifle which is scary looking. A .45-70 lever action is not a high powered rifle. A .25-06 bolt action is not a high powered rifle. A .577 tyranasaur bolt action is not a high powered rifle. A .300 winmag bolt action is not a high powered rifle. On the other hand.... An AR-15 in .223 or even .22lr is a high powered assault rifle. An AK-47 is 762x39 is a high powered assault rifle. And to truely illustrate this point. A Mini-14 with 5 round flush magazine in .223 is NOT a high powered rifle. A Mini-14 with 20-30 round magazine and synthetic stock, in .223 is a high powered assault rifle. Just my opinion... Never heard the term "high powered rifle" in my life, outside of the news. Another guy suggested it has to do with optics. The bigger your scope, the "higher power" your rifle....
