Locally here in Portland, OR gas prices snuck above $2.00/gal (87 octane) for a brief time.  Now, they are down around $1.80/gal.  It wasn't too long ago that I remember prices nearly as low as $1/gal.  Oregon is mandatory non-self-serve (you can not fill your own tank).  Also, there are different fuel taxes in different states.

Don't the change gas prices in different areas all have to do with how close you are to an oil refinery?

I heard that somewhere.....

I can tell you a big HELL NO on this one.  Most gasoline comes from three areas in the country, Texas, CA, and PA.

I lived in Houston during the last Arab boycott and called on the 60 miles of refineries.  In front of the largest Shell refinery in the country was a gas station with a big sign "Out of Gas".  What a hoot.

$1.39 in TN

As Lamont Henderson might say, $1.32 at the sebben e-lebben at fit-teent an' bool-libard in E'mond.

I don't even pay any attention anymore. I have to have it, there's no haggling over it, so I just buy it and cut down on any extraneous traveling.

In my area they are between $1.50 and $1.70

I thing we need to capture a (domestic) oil refinery and demant non asinine prices before We give it back.

$2.09 here in the Inland Empire (East of LA) today. Prices were up to about $2.20 before.

Across the AZ/CA border I paid $1.72 last week - $0.35 cheaper then on the CA side.

At the price gouging stations here, the price steadily rose before the war to around 1.83 to 1.90 depending on the part of town your in.
Now, do you think the price has fallen since then ??? HELL NO !!!
Price gouging assholes, nothing more. And don't give me that "they gotta use up the expensive gas before they can sell the cheap stuff" crap either, I watch these stations refill their tanks every day.

Well warlord was the only other kalifornia post so I will add mine too.

here in riverside county so. cal it's 2.05 for the cheapest and still around 2.55 for premium depending on the station.

here in kalifornia we have the joy of having the most restrictive environmental regulations in the union...

if the democrats have there way the whole country can follow in these footsteps...

now, don't you wish you lived here?[puke]

right around the corner from my house in Windsor CT, it's $1.77 for regular. I work in Springfield, MA and the average price there is $1.65. However, in Chicopee, MA, there's a gas station I go to that's always cheaper than anywhere else and I paid $1.41 there yesterday.
