My wife thinks that there is something very wrong with me.
In my vehicle, there is my Arsenal AK47 with 1 30 round mag inserted, plus another 10 30 round mags in a cloth sack on the floorboard in the back seat. There is also a Glock 19 in the console with a 15 round mag inserted, with 3 additional 15 round mags and 2 33 round mags. In my go bag, which goes into the office with me, there is also a Glock 30s with 10 round mag inserted and 2 more 10 round mags, a Ruger Alaskan in 44 mag with 4 speed loaders, as well as the Nighthawk Warhawk on my hip, with 3 extra mags for it as well. This is just the stuff that rides with me. I have 4 Ar's of various manufacturers, as well as 2 more Arsenal AK47's in the safe, along with several other glock handguns and several thousand rounds of ammo for each caliber. I also have several break down Ruger 10/22's and an Anschutz bolt action 22 with scope. She doesn't dislike guns at all, and loves to shoot with me. She just thinks I have a few too many. I might have a problem? |

One of the airplanes I fly has an AK47 underfolder that lives in a tennis back in the back. Dunno whose it is, or how it got there (assuming it's the owner's, and plays into his post-apocalypse plan or something). There's a note to 'remove tennis bag from aft cabin prior to international flights' in the cockpit. ETA- In my car I keep a go-bag with a trauma kit and probably 8-10 magazines for the AR15 that lives in the trunk, as well as a PX4 in the glovebox in case I happen to not be CCWing that particular day. Not that I ever go out without my CCW, but it's there if I do. Before the AR, there was a police 870 that lived in my trunk(s) for about a decade. The various workplace shootings and acts of 'not-terrorism' that seem to become more and more commonplace motivated me to replace the shotgun with a fighting carbine. |

I agree with your wife, there might be something wrong with you. I'd diagnose it as a lack of shotguns and other fun guns like lever actions and C&R stuff. I also have an old Garand, and an 870 defender with Surefire front end. That's the only shotgun. I'm not much of a bird hunter. Kinda like crawfish. They taste good, but too much work for too little meat. |

I might have a problem? Barring paranoia, I don't see a problem. Perhaps stay away from schools, movie theaters, colleges, post offices and military installations where perhaps you could be misunderstood and get your dag shot. |

| Dude, you're a news headline waiting to happen. You sound like you have a great collection many would envy, but driving around with half of it in your car is asking for A) getting a couple thousand dollars worth of gear jacked and in the hands of a scumbag B) pulled over for a minor traffic stop and find the situation escalating very quickly. |

She's right. For reference, I drive around in Afghanistan with less shit than you take to work in America. The drugs your crazy locals take make slow zombies. He might be in a heavy meth area. Fast zombies. ![]() I wonder how much 11 loaded Ak47 mags weigh

Initially that seems like a lot, but I don't know what your AO is like so one has to take that into consideration.
Also, there was once a time when someone would look cross-eyed at a person who kept turn out gear and a Scott pak beside their desk in a high rise. In other words it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. |
|
Yea, that is excessive. I cant perceive a scenario where I will need 11 mags for a rifle to get home. How are you even going to carry those if SHTF? In your sack?
And I am a full on believer in SHTF, but you need to throttle back. ETA: seriously carrying five firearms all the time is too much. And one a .44 mag revolver?!? |
|
If your truck breaks down, what will you do with all of that? Gives Roadside Assistance a whole new level of meaning...
Seriously, might want to ditch some of that. Logistically if you have to walk out from wherever you are, you're going to end up leaving behind some things and that's not a fun feeling. |
