My wife threw out my Kobalt 6 in 1 screwdriver.

That from HD's website here... http://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Tools-11-in-1-Screwdriver-Nutdriver-32500/100648043 Now does that equate to...come in to HD and grab a new one off the shelf should it break 50 years from now (as would be the case with Kobalt, Husky, Craftsman, etc.) or is there the hassle/shipping cost/time of going through Klein? I use a 15 in 1 I bought at a local tool store. I think the name is Lisle. I use this professionally. It is by far the most used tool I own. I use it more than my hammer and I'm a carpenter. I've been using it for over 10 years. I replace it every 5 years or so, usually because I have lost most of the bits. A Klein 11 in 1 would be the next one if I can't get another Lisle. |

I called HD on the Klein warranty. After the usual 3 dept. transfer (I guess it's an electricians tool due to the insullation)....but the store manager said while the customer is supposed to technically go through Klein, they usually just swap them out like a Husky. He added the caveat that if Klein no longer makes the tool and/or HD no longer carries the specific model they would give me the next best thing.
So it looks like I'll be going with the Klein. Thanks! -Emt1581 |

I have three Kleins a 5 in 1, the 11 in 1, and a 5 in 1 extended. The lowes here doesn't carry Klien. Home Depot in the electrical section is where I got mine. |

Thats what that Klien looks like. Plus the "cushion" grip will slip after you get oil on it, and most likely swell up. Is it good for a $10 screwdriver? sure, but is there such a thing as a good $10 screwdriver? Not in my experience.

I had a yellow one that matches my others, dropped it and it exploded. They swapped me out a black one, probably over 20 years old. When I did comm cabling I used a Greenlee combination one. |

My Kobalt had that rubber gripping. Never had any issues with it being slippery. Did mostly house work and vehicle interior work with it so not a lot of time spent around slippery substances...those areas usually call for a socket wrench. I do like a good comfortable grip though. My dad's Stanley has it, my Kobalt had it, but I'll have to feel the Klein in order to see if I like it or not. What big box store sells the Snapon? EDIT: I will say I HATE having to carry bits around in addition to the driver. Not a fan of the tootsie toy ones that have the hollowed out handles with storage cavities either. So I definitely want a combo driver with everything built into the shaft. Thanks -Emt1581 |

Hard to screw up with Klein. But, I have two of these.

Bought the Klein 11 in 1 and it might be going straight back. Sure there's 11 bits/drivers but the torx are in sizes that fit nothing in my home and the square bits I have no use for because the deck screws I use that normally would have the square bit have a larger torx.
Plus the grip says right on it, not insulated, will not protect against electrical shock. So essentially the $5 Husky or $8 Kobalt would have done just as well and still been guaranteed forever. Any reason why the 4-6 bits/drivers I'll use on this are going to be significantly better than the 6 that come with the Husky/Kobalt? Thanks -Emt1581 |
